Three Month Old Schedule Question

Hi moms! My son was born April 19th. He is sleeping through the night, I usually put him to bed around 7, I wake him up at 11 (when I'm going to sleep) feed him, back to bed and then he wakes up at 6:30 am. He also still sleeps alot during the day. I'd like to get a day time routine going so that I can work from home part time starting in September when my 2 daughters are in school. I am hoping he will take long naps during the day (at least one, maybe 2, before 3 pm). Is there anyone else out there who has some sample schedules they did with their babies? My kids are all good sleepers. I just never really tried any kind of schedule this early with my girls. Is it possible to do? Can you ladies tell me what schedules you were able to do during the day? Thanks!

What can I do next?

At that age you really can't put them on a schedule... they sleep, eat, poo and play when they want to or need to! In fact, you probably shouldn't be waking him up to feed him before you go to bed! Our doctor has always told us not to wake a sleeping baby.. they are on their own rhythm and we shouldn't mess around with it!

In September he'll be 5/6 months old, so he will likely take two long naps- one in the late morning and one in the mid-late afternoon. Just make sure that he's alert and active during the in between times so that he's actually tired in the afternoons. At that age, my son usually napped from 9:30-11 and again from 1:30-3(ish). Around age 1 they drop the morning nap!

My little guy is 3 and still takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon! They play so hard all day at preschool that he's exhausted by 1!

He is young.
You need to go by his cues... for feedings and sleep/naps.

My son for the 1st year, napped 3 times a day, at least. And I fed on-demand.
3 months is also a growth-spurt, so they need to feed more frequently and more in quantity.
Then every 3 months after that is a growth-spurt.

When I had my son and my daughter was in school, his naps were in the morning, and then before or after I picked up my daughter from school, and then another one before evening. Then bedtime.
My daughter KNEW, he naps. That is what babies do.
So, 'our' schedule, revolved around his naps.
I explained this, to my eldest child.

A baby will need to nap when tired.
Or they will get over-tired, and this makes things worse, and they need sleep. Or they get fussy and then cannot sleep/nap.

My son also was not a portable napper. Meaning, he ONLY napped at home. Not on the road or not in a stroller or not on the go. ONLY at home. So that is how I revolved "my" schedule.
My son is now 4 years old, and STILL naps. Because I was always regular about it and had a routine, for naps. For both my kids.

Babies, get tired after about 2 hours of awake time. Then they need a nap.

Working from home, around a baby or child, is going to be full of interruptions. Unless you have regularity about his naps and know his cues for tiredness.
I work from home, and even with my son from babyhood until now... it is never ever, whole blocks of time, that I can work.

Babies this age, nap a lot. They need it. It sustains them, helps with development and brain development.

When mine were that age they woke between 6-7am, and napped from 9ish-10ish and again from 1-3. They also took an evening nap from 4:30-5:30 and then they nursed at 7ish and I woke them at 11pm for a final feeding (my 3rd was like yours and slept until morning, the other 2 weren't as generous).
My first 2 were in a home daycare until the 3rd came (the boys were almost 2 and 3-1/2) and that was the napping schedule there so I kept it going when the 3rd came.
I found this schedule in "Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child" also and pretty much lived by that book.
Good luck.

Schedule was our lifesaver in our house. We started my daughter at at 7 weeks when I went back to work that way when I pumped at work it would be on the same schedule.
This is how her schedule has been since she is now 7 months old:
0530 I wake her up to nurse and put back to bed
0730-0800 she wakes up hubby plays with her
0900 4oz bottle
0915-0930 lay down for nap
1130 Hubby wakes her up from her nap plays with her
1230 4oz bottle
1245-1pm down for nap
230-300- wakes up
4pm nurses when I get home
530 nap
6pm wakes and eats solids; she used to just nurse at this time
715 diaper change and she is put in her bed to watch her mobile play with her toys just for quiet time before bed.
750 nurse and down for the night.
She used to go to bed about 830 but the past month she has transitioned herself to 730-750 nurse and bedtime. She still wakes once a night most nights to feed.
My daughter started to teeth in earnest at the end of three months and popped her first tooth at 4.5 months. Her sleep and schedule was thrown off for a couple weeks but that's normal.
We really payed attention to her ques to set her schedule then stuck to it. Good luck and just keep with it.

Why are you waking him up at 11. I would never wake a sleeping baby.
Chances are he would sleep thru. Babies are pretty unpredictable until
about 7 months. That is when they start with a regular schedule; Nap in
AM and then PM.
