Transitioned to Booster Seats

We recently transitioned to a booster seat, but when our daughter falls asleep it's horrible. No headrest and her head bobbles everywhere. Any suggestions on how to hold her head up while she sleeps?

What can I do next?

How old is she and how tall is she?

When my son was 5 years old (he's 8.5 now) my friends told me about the importance of 5-point-harness car seats. So I bought the Britax REGENT. It's huge and he recently outgrew it. But it has a cozy back and his head was always supported by the sides. I highly recommend it.

I have a 4.5 yr old daughter and I would never put her in a backless booster. It's not safe enough for her age and weight.

She is now in the 5-point Graco Nautilus. (The Regent seems too big right now.) And when she outgrows that, she'll be in the Regent.

Sunshine Monterey is a booster with a back (and great head/side support for sleepy kids) but it's not a 5-point. I was hoping my son would agree to that, but he doesn't want it.

He is now (age 8.5) in a backless booster. He says he prefers it.

You may want to get a booster seat with a high back that curves forward a little. See Graco's Turbo-booster for example.

You don't say how old she is. I'm guessing 6 or younger since she is falling asleep in the car? My kids are 3.5 and 6 and both ride in a Britax Regent and they will until they are 80lbs. They love their seats and sleep great in them. My kids are a little on the petite side that is why a booster isn't an option, nor do I feel comfortable with booster seats at this time. Personally, I'd go with a seat that fits your child better or maybe one of those travel head pillows might do the trick? You might even be able to slip it on as soon as she falls asleep.

By the way, congrats on 16 years of marriage! That's great!!

Check at Babies R Us, they sell a tiny headrest pillow, the kind like for you to travel on airplane, her head can rest on that, very comfy and protect the neck from injury too. If she's still on 5 point hardness seat, they also have the cushion to wrap around the belt so she can rest her head on there too. Also, if your back row have the recline feature, you may wanna recline it so her position a little bit recline and easy on her head when she asleep.

good luck! and Happy Thanksgiving

You might want to try and get a booster that has a back and sides... one is the "Compass" booster... and the other is a Britax "Monarch" or "Frontier." You can get them or see the reviews of the on amazon.com

These are the one's that we have and it's great, my kids love it, and it holds their head if they fall asleep, because theire are side "wings" on the backrest head area. It is also safer because it provides lateral support for their head, if in an accident etc.

Good luck,
Susan

Compass makes a great affordable booster with a head rest and the back extends to grow with your child. My boys love theirs. Good luck.

I don't know how old or what your daughter weighs, but watch this moving video on You Tube. If the link does not work, type in "Importance of 5 point car safety seats + Kyle"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azgBhZfcqaQ

It convinced my to put my kids (ages 4 and 7) back into 5 point car seats.

I would put her back into a 5 point harness right away!
I am soo paranoid!!!
They are safer and after seeing my son's head bop all over the place I put him back.

If we don't have the headrest pillows handy, then i rest his head against the seatbelt. Sometimes if we have a jacket or blanket, I tuck in a blanket btw the seat belt top and his head
