Two Pregnancy Question.

I am 13 weeks pregnant with my second child, and I have two questions. Nothing I think that is too serious, and I am going to bring it up to my doctor at my appointment next week. But I'd thought I'd ask you ladies first.

1. I have lost about 8 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. Is this normal? I do still get naseaus very often, and have plenty of food aversions. I try to eat every 2-3 hrs, or when I get hungry. But that doesn't guarantee that it's going to stay in my stomach. I eat mostly healthy, wholesome foods. With my first, I had gained about 2-4 lbs by now if I remember right.

2. Sex is so uncomfortable for me now. To the point where it is very painful. Again, with my first it was the opposite. Sex was actually more pleasurable for me when I was pregnant with my first. Could this just be hormonal, or could there be an underlying condition for this? Does anything help?

What can I do next?

I think both are normal. I am 18 weeks and continue to lose weight. (I have lost 20 plus pounds so far.) I would think the sex discomfort has to do with hormones versus a problem but talk to your doctor to be sure.

I didn't lose weight with my first but lost 10lbs with my second. I was nauseous with the second and ate like you are describing. I started gaining weight around week 15 or 16. That pregnancy was actually healthier than my first one! For me sex was uncomfortable with my first pregnancy and I was like a sex crazed teen with my second. LOL. I think hormones play a huge part of it all. Good luck and congratulations.

Losing weight is normal. With my first pregnancy, I lost 11 lbs. in the first few months. I just couldn't keep food down...doctor said it's normal!

If you are vomiting to the point of losing weight, your doctor will likely do something about this. I was horribly sick with all of my pregnancies and I'm pregnant with my 4th but I never lost weight!

As for the sex issue, every pregnancy is different. I know, I've had 4 of them. I say it's hormones making it uncomfortable. You could have a dryness problem that can be easily remedied with lubricant like AstroGlide. If you're still concerned, talk to your OB but I'm betting your doctor will say it's hormones....and totally normal.

the weight loss is perfectly normal.....some people lose a ton of weight, some people gain weight, depends on the person AND the pregnancy.....keep doing what you are doing and everything will be fine.

a lot of things are different between pregnancies......just because sex was more pleasurable during one doesn't mean it will be during ALL of your pregnancies, but the same is true about the other way around, just because it hurts and is uncomfortable this time around does not mean that if you have another child in the future that it will hurt then.......could try different positions.....I know with my 3rd I got huge and some positions did not work at all.....hope this helps.

and congrats on the baby on the way

No two pregnancies are alike even in the same woman.
You will put weight on in the second trimester and the third.

These questions are really best answered by your doctor.

Firstly, don't sweat the weight loss. I know lots of women who dropped up to 10 lbs in the first trimester due to morning sickness and had perfectly healthy babies. I also know women who lost a few pounds in the last trimester because of illness and who also delivered perfectly healthy babies!

Secondly, second pregnancies are harder on your body than the first. Expect a lot of things to be different or more magnified than the first time around. Could be the way the baby is sitting, hormones, whatever. Maybe it will get better the next trimester, maybe not - just do what's comfortable for you.

Your doc will know more, of course.
