Does anyone have experience with a vacuum pack sealer for frozen foods & food fresh from the garden. I am interested in purchasing one for my MIL as a Christmas gift and am a little overwhelmed with the number of these on the market....If anyone has first hand knowledge of one that you use and love, I would great appreciate a recommendation.

What can I do next?

We have the Tilia brand FoodSaver and use it frequently. Our biggest use is packing meats when we bring them home from the store so they will last longer. We also will portion everything out so we only have to use what we want and freeze the rest.

I know Kohls has them on sale on-line. Besides checking epinions you can also search at mysimon.com for places that have them cheapest. Depending on what model you get they can get expensive. Another place I've seen them on occasion is Tuesday Morning.

We have the food saver. It is so nice! We seal up chip bags, frozen food bags, we can buy meat in larger quantities and package them up according to our needs. It is very easy to use...not sure on cost because we received it as a gift. The only set back is its size. We've had ours for 3 or 4 years so there may be a smaller more compact version out by now. Good Luck. A.

We have a FoodSaver and use it a lot during the holidays with leftovers, etc. Now that you can get refill bags and bag rolls at Walmart, it's easier to deal with. A friend has the black & decker one and is happy with it. I think they're all basically the same.

sometimes I search www.epinions.com to see if people have experience with what I'm looking to buy.
