Has anyone bought a video monitor from Babiesrus? I know that Target has the Summer brand one that is supposed to be good. However, I have gift cards to Babiesrus that i need to use. I appreciate your input.

Dear S.,
This response is not what you are asking for but it is worth considering.
We considered a video monitor and were told that some people stay awake staring at the screen. We investigated the $100+ Babies R Us motion/audio monitor. The customer comments and our experience have been very positive. We place the sensor pad in his sleeping area. The alarm sounds if no motion is detected for 20 seconds, plus you have two portable monitors so you can hear baby cry. He sleeps upstairs, we are downstairs sleeping comfortably knowing that if the worst to occur (respiratory arrest) we would be alerted. Also if someone were to take him and turn off the transmitter we would hear static due to the loss of signal. All units have battery backup in case of a power failure. My research has only revealed one limitation: two channels and the receiver can pick up interference, especially during the day. I have recommended this to all of my coworkers and pregnant friends.
Best Wishes,
Ed

I have the one from babies r us that was $99. It is summer infant, and I think it is the 5 inch monitor? It is bulky on my night stand, but the size is the only thing I have to complain about. We love it, and the picture is big on screen. We didn't get the color one, but didn't see the need to. When she is crying, I can turn it on and see if it is because she was stuck, etc. I have some friends who have the handheld and LOVE it, but personally, I am used to the bigger picture now and like it. But the handheld one is nice too! Just more compact.

We bought our Summer brand video monitor from Babies R Us. It is locked in a case where the other baby monitors are. We have had it for almost 4 years and we love it!

We got the one with the small hand-held monitor and love it. We have a 2 story house and the nursery is upstairs so it's perfect and it saves my knees a lot of wear and tear. It does get some static but it's totally worth it. Good luck!

I bought one about a year ago and LOVE IT. I totaly recomend getting one. It's so nice to be able to see your baby and not wonder what's going on without distrubing him.

We got our Summer Infant at babiesrus too (almost 3 years ago) and are still loving it! Couldn't live without it. It tends to be temperamental at times- gets noisy and staticky, but we just move it a little. If you buy it and the green lights on the monitor and camera are too bright, just put a sticker or some paper with tape over it on the lights and it will dim it well. We've had to do that.
