My mom and aunt both came down with a virus that caused dizziness for three weeks. I am hoping that's what my mom has as she s quite dizzy. She did visit the Doctor and he have her some pills for vertigo, but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what can possibly help?

What can I do next?

I, too, have been experiencing dizziness, exhaustion, and headaches. I have been to the Dr. (As well as emergency room during a massive dizzy spell) and everything checked out ok. He gave me motion sickness pills. Recently I came across some information that these are symptoms of sunspot activity. And MANY people responded to be having these symptoms lately. The sun is going through a phase of activity where the electromagnetic field of the earth is affected. And as a result, we are affected, too. Some people are more sensitive to it than others, I guess.

There are many many causes of dizziness and some are serious, so she should see a doctor. But, a virus is one of them. A friend had it, and she was so dizzy she couldn't stand up for 2 weeks. Since it was a virus, there was no treatment. Then, it was gone and she's been fine ever since (it was several years ago). But again, your mom should get checked out and make sure that is the issue.

Did the doctor say it's a virus? Does she have any other symptoms? Should could have an ear infection, or low blood sugar, or anemia... there are so many other potential causes of dizziness. Good luck -

If she has an upper respiratory infection, congested ears can cause dizziness.

I have intermittent vertigo which is being treated after extensive testing. I've not heard of medicine for vertigo except for pills for motion sickness and decongestants that are manufactured primarily for other conditions.

A friend has been suffering for vertigo for several weeks. She fell and went to the ER. They gave her motion sickness meds which made it worse. When she checked in with the neurologist the doctor said that if this type of medicine doesn't help in the first day or so that one should stop taking it because it can make dizziness worse. I don't remember why now.
