Water Bottle Labels

I'm throwing a baby shower for my sister and wanted to personalize things a little by making my own labels for water bottles, but I have no idea how to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone tried this before? I don't know what kind of paper to buy or what to use to stick them on the bottles and ensure that they won't fall off or run after having them in a bucket of ice and water....any help would be appreciated! :)

What can I do next?

Interesting question... I am considering having an outdoor wedding reception, and was thinking of personalizing water bottles also, but was concerned about the ink and the label itself coming off the bottles due to condensation... I haven't done any research on this yet, so I will be watching to see what others have already found! I do know they make some heavier-duty larger address labels for the computer that are supposed to resist water damage, but again, haven't really looked that far into it. But my initial thought is to do a computer label, just need info as to how well they keep! Cover it with clear packaging tape, maybe?

you could laminate regular paper and then use clear packing tape if you have access to a laminater.

If they weren't being put on ice i would just use cardstock or heavy paper and put clear packing tape over all of it. But that might not stand up to the water.

could you maybe almost freeze them and not have them actually submerged? not sure that would help because of condensation, Same issue if you put ice in a bucket and then put a plastic bag of some sort as a barrier and then put in the bottles?? hmmm
cute but it might not work for you.

Just use labels from an office supply store. You can customize and print on your home computer. At my baby shower as a parting gift, each guest left with a personalized mini-bottle of champagne. The label said, “Robby Jame's Arrival Ale" The idea was to open, toast, and drink the champagne when they received the news of his birth. I thought it was a sweet way to include everyone in the celebration. We found labels that were self adhesive and stuck them on top of the original label. Have fun!

We did custom wine bottle labels for our wedding from this site and loved them. Super easy, inexpensive and stayed put. www.stoneycreekwinepress.com
There are many sites that do specific water bottle labels like this one http://www.bottleyourbrand.com/water-bottle-labels.
Good luck!

I would look and see if there are any you can print off of your printer, then design your own.

I did this for a B-day party. I just cut strips (that covered the existing water bottle label) of cute scrapbook paper that matched the theme. Then taped them on with double stick tape. Its super easy. And I just refrigerated them...cant put them in ice.

You can buy sheets of labels to put in your printer at an office supply store but if you're going to put the bottles in buckets of ice the labels will most likely get soggy. So either stick those labeled bottles in the fridge or else write on the bottles with permanent markers so you can stick them in the bukets of ice. A cute thing my sister did was make me a diaper cake (you can google it to get a picture of it) which we later used. We, also, filled plastic baby bottles with jelly beans for the tables as cute decorations. Have fun!

go to an office supply store and check out the Avery labels, they should have some that are "weatherproof" that might possibly be able to go in a bucket of ice....I am really not sure about the ink though - you may have to have a special type of ink to keep it on the label? - you can go to www.avery.com and download free templates to create the labels and then just stick them on the bottles - and btw - what a great idea - I have never heard of customizing the water bottles!! Good Luck!

you may want to go to a home improvement store and ask some one about a clear spray on paint that you could use over some sticker letters for the water bottles and my idea might work if you use a hot glue gun and buy a pack (500 different letters) or so of tiny self adhesive foam letters from a crafters store like Micheal's and peel the paper on the back off and hot glue them instead. Do a test bottle first in water and ice in your kichen sink to see if my idea works. if it dose not work you are only down a couple of dollars and you can use the letter stickers for othr crafts like holiday cards and gift wrapping.

What about something personalized with the baby's name and DOB? This company is great. I have used them Many times and have always been very pleased with the results. http://cardwellprinting.logomall.com/

Our friend ordered them through: http://www.babybingo.com/kits.htm.
They are $1.29 each. We still have a couple from 4 years ago. They wouldn't do well in a bucket of ice, we put them in the fridge and then handed them out with favors. You could just as easily make something and use double sided tape like Stacy B recommended, it would be a lot cheaper too.

I second the diaper cakes, they are fun and you can load them up with tons of little stuff like washcloths, socks, pacifiers, rattles, top it with a little stuffed toy or hat and you are good to go. They end up being the talk of the party and make a great center piece. =)

I work at a school that gave students water bottles last year after we filtered all the waterfountains and did away with bottled water. I put Avery Waterproof labels on 350 bottles and they survived a hard year of use and are still going strong. You can print them from your laser printer or run them through a copy machine.
Cute idea!
