Has anyone done this? Has it worked for you? How did you stay motivated?

I signed up today and would love to connect with any of you that it has worked for and even failed for to see if it is right for me as well.

What can I do next?

I used the WW online a few years ago. I lost about 25 pounds and kept it off (+/- a few) until I became pregnant and started gaining for that! The thing that I found so helpful was that the online software helped me track what I was eating, which helped me NOTICE what I was eating. I was conscious of my food instead of just grabbing. I never felt that I was depriving myself because if I wanted something, I could chose to have it... it just helped me not eat it without even noticing.

I did it after I had my baby and I lost 18 pounds in about 4 months. It was very practical and the approach is totally healthy. However, slowly after time I gained the weight back, and now I am following the principles of it on my own. I also would suggest some kind of exercise routine on top of the weight watchers. Good luck! I started 3 weeks ago and have lost 8 pounds.....

In CA I did WW and lost 54 pounds. I kept it off for two years then we moved to VA and my meds went wacky and I was under a lot of stress so I gained it all back pplus some. It does work. You have to recognize that WW is a lifestyle change and if you are not willing to change your eating habits you will not keep the weight off. I am now counting again and recently have lost some weight.
Going to meetings will help you stay motivated. You have someone else to report to about your weight and eating habits.
Good luck. It will work if you follow the plan and believe in yourself.

It definitely worked for me to lose the weight. My problem was maintaining it after I reached my goal weight because I stopped going to meetings, thinking I could do it myself. It works because it teaches you to control your portions but you can still treat yourself so you don't feel deprived. Good luck!

I've been doing weight watchers online for over a year now. I lost 67 lbs by Halloween of 2009 but then gained 13 through the holidays. I've "restarted" the plan as of the first of the year and have lost about half of what I gained over the holidays. It absolutely works.

Good luck,
K.

It really does work and it is a life style change. It can be rough at times, but the best part is you really can take it one day (and mistake) at a time. Just because you have rough minutes, days, or weeks, doesn't mean you still aren't doing sometime great for yourself. You aren't putting things into your body that is bad for you, and you aren't spending tons of extra money. So give it a chance and I think you may get the results you are looking for.

I joined WW in July 2007, 3 months after my son was born. By late November I'd lost 14 pounds and ended up losing (and maintaining) a weight loss of 22 pounds. I have been a lifetime member for over 2 years which means I've been within 2 pounds of my goal weight each month when I weigh in. It is definitely a lifestyle change but it also a more conscious way of eating. As a SAHM it is very tempting to eat (graze) all day. However on WW I would split my daily point allowance (say, 20 points) and save 10 of those for dinner. Therefore I would only have 10 points (give or take) to last until dinner time. I'd have to make smart choices and ask myself--"Am I really hungry? Is it worth the points?"

I think to truly succeed you have to journal (be honest and write down everything you eat) and go to meetings. I know having to step on the scale in front of someone each week made me less likely to "cheat."

Hope your weight loss journey is successful!

I joined weight watchers the beginning of 2009 and lost 100 lbs.
but do this, join a gym. Golds Gym is great and very inexpensive. like $20 or 30 a month. it is the only way to be successful. I have joined weight watchers 3 other times, and this time I was the most successful cause I joined a gym. even exercise at home isn't the same.

good luck!

I did WW for a few years, and it's great. It teaches you how to eat properly. At least if you eat something you're not supposed to, you KNOW it. It gives you the knowledge to make better decisions. You also lose the weight correctly, maybe less than a pound a week at times, maybe more. But it will make you feel better about yourself.

My mom did Weight Watchers and raves about it. I agree with the others in that it's a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. They teach you important things like portion control and how to make smart food choices. She's passed along her WW tips to me and I've applied my diet strategy to what she's shared.

I have used WW twice after each pregnancy to lose about 20 lbs each time. My kids are now 12 and 9 and I have kept it off. I go back to the points-slide and the book with points after holidays or summer vacation if I gained a few. Mostly it is just sticking with healthy choices and proper portion sizes. Mosts bags of snacks are many many portions, and even when we ate rice or pasta I would take a pile on my plate that was enough for 3!!! Good luck, it is easier when you go to meetings to stick with it, but keep the books because it is possible later to do it on your own.

I've used WW successfully a number of times in my life and I LOVE it!!! It's the only "weight loss" system that really changed the way I looked at eating, taught me to let go of the guilt, AND I could envision myself using as a lifestyle for the rest of my days!

In fact, they don't have a pregnancy program, but I've been using the points system to manage my weight gain during this pregnancy and it's worked like a charm! In fact, my husband might start using the points to try and GAIN weight...since really the points are just a mathmatical equasion and can be used however you like!

Loved it! I used it after I quit smoking. the irony was after i got to a healthy weight and wasn't smoking anymore, i got preggers! so here's the scoop - not everybody likes it, but it works. you have to put in a little effort, but you eat what you like. way cheaper than those diets you have to pay for the food (nutrisystem food made me so sick after just two days). Once you do WW for a few weeks, you'll know what is how many points off the top of your head, so don't worry about that part where do you live? where are you meetings?

this is key: to stay motivated GO TO THE MEETING. they are horribly boring, but occasionally you get a good tip (like Light Cow Cheese is only 1 point), but you get weighed at the start and at the end you announce what you lost that week and everyone claps - even if its just a pound. i found the feedback from others was key to my motivation. and we had a great group leader.

Good for you! Have fun with it - oh and I have a bunch of weight watchers cookbooks. we could get together and copy pages out of them for you. (they do try to sell you stuff at the meetings, just pass - you can get WW food at the supermarket or find other substitures for cheaper).
