This week I went over to my mom's house and my mom and my step-brother (19) were home. In the living room he was completely naked except with a pouch (?) over his genitals, oil on his skin, and my mom was there with her camera. It was explained that this was to document his progress bodybuilding and she was assisting by taking pictures.
It is a fact I knew he works out seriously and has good muscles and I heard him talk about wanting to compete in a contest.
My mom got nervous when I walked in. I was like kind of uh wow. He asked if could wait in the kitchen for a few more minutes.
Should I relax and take her explanation at face value or should I talk to her again about this?
I would take the explanation at face value and not question it. I don't know much about it, but I beleive this is the type of thing body builders do.
Wow, that's just weird. I wouldn't have taken the pics that's just creepy. There isn't ANYONE else to take his pic? They do have camera's you set to auto take a pic this may be a good Christmas gift for him.
I wouldn't worry about it personally. Bodybuilders always oil themselves for pictures or competitions. She was probably nervous that YOU were seeing him half-naked.
Sounds like a normal body builder thing to me (married to one). They have these thong bikini's that are just (gasp) hilarious. I can't take them seriously. Even sitting here I'm just kind of choking back laughter. They are ridiculous. Especially the different colors and textures of them... not to mention the ones that are padded to simulate balls, since for decades most body builders took hormones that shrank their nuts to peas. But that's beside the point.
It sounds like he wasn't embarrassed with your mom, but you (closer to his age and presumably sexier than your mom) made him nervous and or aroused. Which in the thong bikini is something one *cannot* hide past c***.
I wouldn't worry about this at all. Completely normal for body builders to do this. I also have a hard time believing anyone could come up with a body building excuse on the fly like that. I am sure your mom was acting embarrassed because it is. There is her 19 year old step son sitting there, she is taking photos and you walk in. I would be embarrassed too, it looks bad until you hear what is actually going on.
Now I would also take into account that he asked you to wait in the kitchen so they could finish up. That kind of response really doesn't sound like anything but business to me. Don't you think they would stop immediately and try to cover it up if there was hanky panky going on? I am pretty sure this was all innocent and your mom is being truthful.

Well, I've been in your mom's position, taking those pics. My sister was a body builder for a moment. It is a very...different kind of sport (by that I mean, frickin' ridiculous and totally hilarious - lucky for me, my sister used to have a sense of humor and we would have a rip roaring blast taking photos and making fun). The oil and costume are just part of the gig. To each their own.
BTW check out a competition, your step bro will be painted bronze and shiny before donning his tough bikini. Oh, the fond memories.

Umm, you might as well take her explanation at face value, because he's of age and if it's anything other than your mom taking pictures there's not much you can do anyway. If something fishy is going on, you'll find out soon enough.

Sounds a bit odd that he was comfortable with his step-mom taking the pictures but not with you being in the room. Maybe he was nervous enough about having the pictures taken but wasn't ready for an audience.
Since he is an adult, I say let it be for now....it does sound like a reasonable explanation.
This is interesting. She was probably nervous because she realized how this looked to you, I pray. The fact that he asked you to wait in the kitchen was probably because you were uncomfortable and made him feel uncomfortable. If it will make you feel better talk to you mom, step dad and brother as a family. Yes, it seems strange, but it was probably just what your mother said. Now if you find pictures of your step brother on the internet nude you should have nothing to worry about.
Ok, I think that's weird and I am the mother of two older sons who have also worked out. I have taken pictures of them flexing their muscles (when they were thirteen or something) but that sounds strange. She is the step-mom right? Where is his real mom? Where is your dad? Does your dad know about this if he is around? On the other hand since the door was available to you to come in (not locked) I suppose maybe she didn't think it was too weird until you did walk in. Who knows. What would you say if you talked to her again about it? On the other hand, when my sons took pictures it was usually of themselves or with some girl. People are so strange sometimes. Unless you have other documentation that they were cheating on dad or you caught them in the throes of heated boom boom, maybe staying out of it would be best. Still, perhaps if you do talk to her you might ask mom if she would have been uncomfortable finding dad taking a picture of a nineteen year old girl with barely anything on.
We're all just guessing why your mom seemed to appear embarrassed.
Why don't you just ask her on the sly next time? You'll learn A LOT about the truth in HOW she answers the question. So pay close attention to her choice of words and explanations, her eye contact and body language.
Then come back and let us know....is SHE embarrassed??? is she embarrassed b/c you walked in and saw him scantily clothed...not like you haven't seen him before, not like body building is a secret society, muscle magazines are a dime a dozen...it's easy to think something else is up. But perhaps is just your mother's age and perhaps she is a bit modest and this situation did not seem all that kosher.
What was your gut reaction? Whatever it was, I would go with that. If you aren't comfortable with her answers, then I would ask again and see what she says. If you are comfortable about it, then leave it alone. Most likely your step-bro was a little embarrassed and so was your mom because it looks suspicious with her taking pics and all. Hope this helps. Is there something about your mom or stepbrother that makes you quesiton the explanation? It's kind of well, gross, but it is probably bad jusdgment more than anyhting else. You might want to tell her you found it really inappropriate and ask if sher was really okay with it or what (did she feel pressured? was it her idea to help? etc.). It is kind of creepy whether a mom or stopmom, but people do dumb things all the time.
PS - By the way, wasn't implying the bodybuilder thing was gross, just the part about a Mom figure and a teenager, albeit of age...
Ohmygoodness that is a double ewwwww! Can't he have one of his friends take the pictures?? I think that's really, really inappropriate. What does your mom's husband say? I'm thinking he doesn't know!
Ok...that is creepy. I know some people are comfortable with nudity, but your mom should have told him to call one of his friends to take the pics. Im sure it was innocent, but definitely not appropriate.

I have a friend who body builds. He has a wife, a son, and stepdaughters. He takes his progress photos of himself in a mirror in private.
It is a little disturbing that Mom is taking them but more disturbing that they asked you to leave the room.
My son is 14 and VERY private with his body around me now. I would have a gentle discussion with your Mom about this.
Sounds absolutely disgusting. I know a bodybuilder, and it's true they shave and oil and bronze and track their progress... but they usually wear little speedos type underwear... was he wearing those, is that the 'pouch' you speak of? If so, I wouldn't worry about it, but it would still creep me out though! and, why can't his dad take the pics, why your mom?
Ummm. I think this whole question is perplexing. Hard to believe as well. The whole thing is rather odd. If it were me, I probably would have given some kind of a look and left the home. I wouldn't even want to stay long enough to get an explanation for that hot mess.

To be a body builder you have to be something of an exhibitionist. It just comes with the territory. But you'd think he's have a girl friend who could take pictures.
I find it so hard to believe, that there was no one else in the entire world to take his picture. I guarantee to you, there was someone...anyone...else that could have taken those pictures. Gross on so many levels. However, it doesn't mean there was actually something not right going on. Is there something specific, that would make you feel this way. Other then the mostly nude oil situation? I think your mom shouldn't be doing that, but it doesn't mean she was doing something else.

Were your mom's hands oily? If so, then think more, if not, guess she really was just taking pictures. If he is in body building they basically wear a speedo for that. Maybe that is an idea for an xmas present for the guy? LOL.
