You are my Sunshine, but I change the last few words.

Instead of--you'll never know dear how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away.

I sing--you'll always know dear, how much I love you, please always keep my sunshine safe.

I feel like it's almost jinxing them to say please don't take them away.

Nellie the Elephant has always been a favorite. We like the Toy Doll version but I'm sure there are others that aren't by punk bands.
I don't think there isn't a Wiggles song we don't love. Rock a Bye a Bear is a huge favorite. They've done a couple albums of nursery rhymes recently too.
Truthfully though, we don't limit to just kids songs. And there isn't a heavy rotation of kids songs in our house. I really hate the singer on so many of those children's CDs. There are only a small handful of children's singers that I enjoy listening to.

Both my kids love The Beatles, esp the Yellow Submarine album. We sing those a lot. Then the usual standards: "Twinkle, Twinkle/ABC Song", "Jingle Bells" (all year round), "Wheels on the Bus", "You are My Sunshine", "Happy Birthday", "Mr. Sun", "Hokey Pokey", "This Old Man", "Old MacDonald", etc.
I also make a lot of the songs we sing. My husband thinks I should make a kids album- lol. Some of the tunes off of Mom's Greatest Hits include "Naked as a Jaybird (The Bath Song)", "Ducky in the Dirt", and "Yummy, Yummy to my Tummy". I interject their names in there too, and they love it. In fact, I think they love the homemade songs the best. :)

When I had my daughter, I was surprised to see how many songs I didn't know! I bought a CD called 102 Children's Songs and we loved it. The songs are lively and quick. You can find it on www.twinsisters.com

My boy loves "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree". There are several that he learned from his gram (something about a little ford machine?) but I don't know those! :)

Fun question!

There's a song from Lady and the Tramp that I assume is called "La La Lu" that is very sweet. It's been a favorite lullaby for all of my kids, along with "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

Sandra Boynton has a book called "Snuggle Puppy" where most of the book is a song. You have to make up your own melody, so that's always a fun one because you can make up a new version every time you read it.

One of my kids really like the Mary J. Blige/U2 version of "One" so we used to have to sing that every night at bed when he was 2 or 3. Neither of us are good singers so that was always...interesting.

Finally, we used to sing "Leaving on Jet Plane" a lot. I don't know why because I don't think I know all the words, but there you go!
