What Does Your Family Eat for Easter Dinner?

If you host Easter Dinner what do you make? Or if you go to Easter Dinner at a relatives what is served there? We are having Easter this year and I have NO idea what to make other than the traditional turkey/ham and sides...but that seems too much like Thanksgiving to me!

What can I do next?

For the last several years we have done Mexican for Easter lunch. It may sound weird but it is really good. We will make meat for fajitas and have all the fixings for that then have chips and salsa, rice and queso dip. We are planning on doing it this year along with ham and scalloped potatoes since my MIL wants to have a more traditional meal this year. We like having the more spicy foods.

When my MIL makes it she does a rack O' Lamb, cous cous (sp?) and a green salad...

When I make it we have ham, steamed green beans (w/rendered bacon), roasted potatoes and rolls...sometimes we do baked potatoes and broccoli w/cheese sauce.

I host Easter and love it! Our family gets along very well, so it isn't stressful at all, and we're very casual, so everyone will be in shorts, playing outside. I don't like to cook, so I order sliced beef BBQ from a great local place. My mom makes incredible potato salad. I make pinto beans (they're easy, so I can handle that!). We have buns in case anyone wants a sandwich, and my aunt and uncle will bring some other side dish. Mom will make homeade banana pudding for dessert. My brother usually brings something too. Everyone brings their own drinks (I'll provide sweet tea). Everyone comes over at 4:00 so that we can all go to church at our various church services that morning and then do whatever else we have planned that morning/early afternoon. It's a very relaxing day. Then at 4:00, it's such an easy meal to throw together and serve that we get to spend all of our time visiting and enjoying our time together. I love it!

This year is NOTHING because my sister has "the house" and won't be home this year, opting to visit her husband's grandparents instead. I'll miss the yummy food but not the bickering! That is the BEST menu

we do ham, baked with pineapple & cherries.

To keep it light & springlike, we also serve potato salad, a greens salad with fruit & a raspb vinaigrette (or wilted lettuce! yum), my Gma's fav ambrosia, & fresh bread. Choc-covered strawberries, Gma's homemade custard pie with real meringue!, & a huge tray of Easter candy on the dessert table. When the kids were younger, we made Jello eggs too.

The kids love having a bottle of sparkling grape juice....& we try to have the local wine with our dinner. We sometimes substitute punch for the kids!

We have always had the "traditional" dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, etc. but this year, my sister is hosting, and we are having pizza!! Yes, she decided we'd all get some takeout and pile it on the table and have pizza from several different places. We think it is kind of weird, but who cares, we'll all have fun!! Hope you enjoy your day.

We do different sides for Tgiving than we do for Easter. We are having ham, scalloped potatoes and steamed carrots and rolls. I always stick with the basics instead of having a bunch of sides to choose from.

We normally do the turkey, ham thing, but this year I am making lamb roasts. We'll have twiced baked mashed potatoes, gingered carrots, salad, and rolls. It is also my daughter's birthday so we'll have some special dessert for her. Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.

We enjoy ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegtable, salad, pineapple casserole (great with ham) and rolls. And of course a dessert like carrot cake, pineapple upside down cake or even a fruit salad. Yum! I'm hungry just typing! If you're having others over and they offer have them bring something you've already planned for. Makes it easier on you and you can make an appetizer or two.
