Hi I am having bad ear pain on the outside of my ear. the top part of my ear drum and the parts of the ear you can see from the outside. it really hurts. unfortately my dr office only has 3 dr and 3 of the dr just left the practice. ugh. they are overwhelmed and only have emergency appt available..ugh.

my ear is really starting to hurt. its been hurting for about 3o hrs. i did an ear candling and got alot of ear wax out ....hoping this would solve the problem. it did not change the severe discomfort at all.

What can I do next?

Yup def sounds like swimmers ear. I have it right now and it drives me nuts. For me its the itching. I want to stick my whole hand in my ear and just scratch it! LOL
Best of luck!

Sorry your ear hurts. I think a tooth ache and ear ache are on the same level. Can bring you to your knees.

Have you been swimming? Sometimes when the ear is hurting "on the outside" it can be caused by swimmer's ear. The only thing that will correct it is antibiotics. You might consider going to an urgent care center. They can look in your ear and easily determine what's going on. Usually with swimmer's ear it requires an antibiotic ear drop. If you decide to wait it out, you can apply a warm compress to the area and take tylenol/advil for pain. If it is swimmers ear though, it will be very painful to wait.

I hope you feel better soon.

Blessings and sympathy,
L.

It sounds like swimmer's ear (an infection of the external ear canal) and you don't have to swim to get it. Can you go to a Patient First in your area? We have gone there for things like that when the doc could not see us.

I just had this about a month ago. HORRIBLE pain! They irrigated my ear and put me on drops and I felt so much better the next day! Never knew how bad swimmer's ear was! I don't ever want it again!

Does sound a lot like swimmer's ear (otitis externa). Do no stick anything else in your ear please and no more candling - it will only make it worse.
I would check if you have a minute clinic (usually at a pharmacy) or an urgent care clinic you can go to. It can become VERY painful.
Good luck.
