Have been seeing eye doctor A for 10-12 yrs, mainly for routine exam/glasses. Tried to make appt with dr A, couldn't get in, went to Dr. B. Doctor B gave a strong prescription, wore the glasses for 3yrs, now its worn out. Thought I would go back to original eye doctor A, but this time paid money and got a weaker prescription, much like the original from 10-12 yrs ago and he said I must check for brain tumor. I wasn't pleased, felt like I wasted my money. Now I have glasses I cannot wear and anxiety wondering if what he said is true. Now for convenience eye doctor B has moved and is close by. Would you go back to eye doctor B for an exam and 2nd opinion, pay another fee or would you get eye doctor A to reimburse and fix the problem and waste time again for the same diagnosis.
I would go for a second opinoin. If Doc B says something different then I would go back to Doc A and say well this Doc says my script should be this. Can you see out of the new glasses with a weaker script?
What type of doctors are these? Optometrists? Ophthalmologists? It sounds like you need an doctor of opthamology. Possibly a neurologist.
So....if Doctor B IS an ophthalmologist, I'd see him again.

Wait, what? Brain tumor? If there's a chance of a brain tumor, I think a second opinion from an oncologist as opposed to an optometrist or even an opthamologist would be more appropriate. I guess for starters (regarding your eyesight), go back to Doc B and see what THAT doc says. And get some clarity about the possible brain tumor. When it comes to your eyes and brain, you don't want to be messing around. Pay whatever fee you need to and get to the bottom of this. If Doc A is wrong, the worst case is you're out some $$ and your time was wasted a bit. If Doc A is right and you ignore it, the worst case is you lose your eyesight or life! I truly hope Doc A is wrong and you were a bit inconvenienced, because the alternative is much, much worse. Good luck!
I would skip A and B and do some research and find an opthamologist in your area who has a lot of experience with these issues.
When my hubby saw his opthamologist he told him to get in with his Primary Care Physician right away. Doc A should have referred you on for some testing if he seriously thinks that's what's going on. You need an MRI.
I would go to the dr you trust... if you dont' trust A, then go back to B for a second and better optionion - even if you have to pay. It's your health and you want the best care you can get.
I'd get the second opinion first from Dr. B. Let's face it, in the long run, the money means nothing - but your health means everything.
Be sure to bring up the need for a brain tumor exam with Dr. B. He might suggest one as well.
I would go to a third doctor and find out what is really going on. I would go to the best by calling the medical society and telling my story. You need an Opthalmologist.
I would go to Dr. B, but I don't think you'll get a refund from Dr. A. Let Dr. B know what Dr. A said. You might even want to contact your primary doctor to see what he/she thinks of Dr. A's diagnoses with the brain tumor.
I would go to Dr B for a 2nd opinion, without telling your tale. After his exam & prescription recommendations, then I would "disclose" what happened & ask his opinion. I would think that your primary physician would also need to be consulted. Thoughts & prayers being sent your way.....
Wow. I would go back to Doctor B or go with hidden Doctor C. :-) I would want to make sure that I have the correct Rx for glasses, but I would also want a second opinion on the whole, "get checked for a brain tumor" thing. Especially if he based it on possibly testing your eyes incorrectly.
I have had to wear glasses since the age of 9 and on 3 occasions have had to assert myself for what I felt was poor service. Once twice was poor service and once out of pocket financial cost. The first time I just stopped going to the optometrist I had been going to since I was 9, he called me personally to apologize for the situation. Unfortunately, I didn't go back because the problem employee continued to work there. The second time was at lenscrafters and I just got my money back, they didn't give a hoot that they had an unsatisfied customer, and the financial one was an employee at a private optometrist made a mess of my insurance claim and items covered/not covered on this I got partial money back and they lost a life long customer.
In your situation, if you used any insurance coverage, I believe a 2nd opinion is covered. (you should probably confirm this with them) If it's your expense out of pocket, you should definitely speak up for yourself and go to doctor B. Good luck and hope doc A misdiagnosed.
Go get a second opinion. I do not even think it was right for the eye doctor to say you have a brain tumor? Have you ever gone to lenscrafters? They do great exams and do an optomap which takes a picture of the eye in lieu of dialation. They can check in the eye and see if there are any health problems. They can see potential problems such as hypertension,glaucoma and diabetes. If you get glasses from lenscrafters then they have a 90 day unconditional guarantee and a 90 day prescription change if you have any problems. I work there and would tell you that we are a reputable company and the doctors are great. Next time do not wear glasses that are not right. As a paitient you have rights. I personally would not go to either of the doctors since you do not sound happy with either one. Good luck

I would ask all my friends and neighbors for recommendations, and get a second opinion from someone new.
