Where to Find Puppets

I am looking for a store in the Sterling Heights/Rochester area that might sell puppets that I can use to help teach my 4 year old Sunday school class. I can't find any puppets anywhere. I have tried Lakeshore Learning (they had some but were for kids to hold -- too small for my hands), Toys R Us and the Family Christian bookstore. I was hoping to not have to buy one online. Anyone have any ideas?

What can I do next?

I think I have seen them at Borders. I know you are trying to avoid online, but I think Oriental Trading Company may also have some. Maybe call Target, too. They kind of fluctuate on that kind of stuff.

Good luck :)

Self Esteem Shop on Woodward and 14 mile. I bought a puppet there but it had been awhile. Call before you go to make sure they still have them.

have you tried a library? do they need to be people puppets? could you use animals - most cartoons are animals so they may relate better?

The Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier shop in Berkley might have them. They carry a wide variety of toys, and they also have a large area devoted to teaching/teachers. I know you asked for the Sterling Heights & Rochester areas, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Try a couple of dollar stores - I have some nice ones from there! Also other learning/teachers stores. Is there still one on Van Dyke in the Centerline area? Also used to be one in Madison Hts.

There is a toy store in Harper Woods on Harper (around 8 or 9 mile, I think). I will update when I'm able to find it online. They had TONS of puppets last time I was in there.

** its called the Whistle Stop Hobby and Toys Store...its located at 21714 Harper in St. Clair Shores. Their phone number is ###-###-####. They also have a website, maybe you can either call or check their site before making the trip. But I do remember that they literally had a whole section of puppets, in all different types (on strings, hand puppets, finger puppets, etc). Good luck, this store is GREAT, you should have no problem finding what you're looking for.

To Ginny - its called Gizmos and yes, its still a teacher supply store and it is still there (just drove past it yesterday). That's a good suggestion too. Gizmos is on VanDyke in Centerline (about 10 mile or so, though I know for sure its before 11 mile/696).
