Because the tooth needs to stay healthy...and hold the "space" for the permanent too...AND the decay can travel down the root of the baby tooth and move to the permanent tooth so that it erupts with a cavity already growing!!! Get them taken care of...for his sake

first of all rotting teeth stink. I also believe the decay can affect the permanent teeth as well....the decay spreads sort of like a cancer. Im not a dentist tho, I just THINK this is the right answer, lol.

its because the cavity spreads and the root can get infected, thereby making the adult tooth not form properly and/or rotting it before it really sets in i think. i remember reading about this a while ago -- can't remember exactly what it was but it was something liek that.

cavities hurt, they can also infect the gums and the tooth waiting underneath.

because cavities spread! and all of the baby teeth don't fall out at the same time and the cavity will spread from baby tooth to the adult tooth next to it.

Because of nerve/root issues;-)

Some of the molars don't fall out for quite a few years.
The baby teeth have roots until just before the adult tooth underneath dissolves them and the rot can spread and go deeper into the jaw.
Also if a baby tooth falls out too early, it can mess up alignment of the adult teeth and lead to braces.

Im not a dentist but my pedi dentist said it can effect the perm tooth underneath. Plus he said the enamel isn't as strong on the baby teeth and it can get bad quickly!

I get your point, but it's a bit short-sighted. Cavities spread. So if new teeth come in and sit next to rotten ones, the new ones will go bad, too.

they will hurt and you dont want them to rot in his mouth. i work at an elementary school and it pains me to see kids with bad teeth.

H., I'm all for second opinions if need be. That's why I highly recommend visiting Dr. William Domb of Upland. Yes....it's a little far from us, but it is definitely worth the journey to see this phenomenally, stellar, holistic dentist whom Dylan adores! He grants so much love to children and is so spirit of play and always on the cutting edge of new holistic technology. In fact, Dylan recently got his first cavity a few months ago, and Dr. Domb was able to handle it naturally with no drilling at all and the tooth remineralized. We so love Dr. Domb! : )

Here's his contact data:

Upland, California 91786

Some baby teeth don't fall out on their own. I had to have SEVEN of my baby teeth pulled to make room for my permanent teeth coming in. And I had them pulled in high school! I didn't have cavities in them, but I imagine if I did and they weren't filled, I would have needed a root canal or two, or they would have rotted out of my mouth.

so the decay does not work its way into the root of the tooth causing pain and need for removal. So the saying goes, a stitch in time.....

Smaller cavities are easier to fill and much quicker to fill. My 4 yr old had one on a molar it was so tiny it took only 5 mins to do. Molars sometimes don't fall out until teenage years.

Not all baby teeth fall out. Also the baby teeth protect the permanent teeth.
