Why So Many Invitations....?

My son started school this past Fall and has been invited to MANY bday parties.

Not only will we get a note in my child’s folder inviting him to the bday, but we also get an invitation in the mail, an Evite and an email at home. 4 invitations total for the same party.

This has happened with all but one bday we were invited to.

So just now I received an email at home with ALL the same information that was on the invitation that was sent in the mail, on the Evite and in the invitation left in my son’s folder.

Is this common practice now? Why do parents do this? My son’s bday is next month so should I start sending invitations and preparing Evites, etc.?? In the past I only do the Evite.

My assumption is they do this to make sure positively that the parent got the invite one way or another. What do you think?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm almost always the one to RSVP first to invites. It's a pet peeve of mine when ppl don't RSVP so I jump on it right away. This particular party I RSVP'd 3 weeks ago that we would be attending. Since we've rec'd invite last week in mail and now email.

To answer the ? = no I have not seen the questions posted about RSVPing. I don't get on here that often =-)

This is just a 'wondering' kind of question by the way...

Because kids lose things, and because people always forget to respond to the invite, whether or not they are going.

It might be that they are sure you got the invite. But it is more likely to try to help ensure that they get a response to the RSVP that I am SURE is included somewhere. Haven't you read all the questions posted on this site about the fact that half the parents out there don't respond to the RSVP?

That is strange. All the parties here have only used one type of invite. Are they coming all at the same time, or are they coming a few days apart? Maybe they send them only to those who have not RSVPed that they can/can not make it?

This is really overkill! We typically receive one invite and I'm a fanatic about RSVP's so I respond and put it on the calendar immediately. In talking with other moms, if it's the day before they need a "head count" and they still haven't heard, they will make a few calls, but no need to send out "save-the-dates" for a kid's party!

We just did the invites for my son's birthday party and b/c we are sending them out a month ahead of time (need a head count early), I will put a little reminder in the cubbies on the Thursday before the party for the children who RSVP "yes" to remind the parents of the event.

total overkill!!! If parents are concerned about attendees at their child's party then an email can be sent "save the date" followed up by an Evite or paper invitation....

Wow that's a lot of invites for the same party. Overkill! My son is in first grade and I ask him who he wants to invite. No point inviting the whole class just the ones he's friends with.

No, this is odd. We have never received more than one invitation for each birthday. Sounds like these mothers are a little neurotic :). You don't need to worry about doing the same thing. We have sent evites for parties and hand written invitations for others. Moms don't want to get overwhelmed with too many things. We don't have the time!

I guess ppl just want to make sure that you got the invite, but 4 times is a bit of an overkill. Sometimes things get lost in the mail. But still 4 times??

I would not like that, but I wonder if it works to make people respond?

Hello, I think this is overkill. One of those ways should do it.
