Hello I currently work full time and I'm married and also have 3 kids. Everyday I think to my self, gosh I wish I didn't have to work. The only problem is that financially I do have to work. I don't know what to do...but the fact is that working and being a mother drains me big time. I'm always stressed, always with a bad face and I feel that if I'm at home things would be different. House would be cleaned, dinner cooked, kids bathed, homework done, etc. if you know what I mean. Please help. Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

Working at home doesn't necessarily mean easy streak. You will likely still need daycare to earn a professional income. I have worked from home for nine years as a freelance writer and my life is not nearly as organized as you mention. Working from home is still work, so I'm constantly running around dealing with work and home demands. If you just need spending money, there are work at home party jobs like Pampered Chef and Tastefully Simple where you can earn a little extra money and not need childcare.

Well I have to agree with some of the other moms it is tough even when you are home I do home parties I don't hate it but I sell sometrhing I like Figure out is there something you love to do whether it is scrapbooking or cooking make-up Is there something that you need. I work on nights or weekends but never when my husbands job calls him away my kids aren't in daycare and I make dinner most nights.I make roughly 150 thats per party. I know a few different types of reps but there are lots of different types of companines and if you know you have strong desire to make money you can and the best part is if you move a bit you can take it with you.I wish you luck because it sucks being stuck in a job you hate.

Working at home is still working. Sure, you cut down on time spent on the commute, and maybe you can throw in a load of laundry while you're home, but you can't take care of the house AND get your work done at the same time. I work part time from home and my work hours are etched out to when my kids aren't home and when I have nothing else going on at the same time. I am also left out of the loop sometimes because the part time employees where I work are not required to attend the meetings that the full time workers attend, and I greatly miss having daily adult interaction.

You need to "think outside the box" and find a way to take what you are doing now (you didn't say what your job is) or some talent that you have and turn it into a part time job where you can work less hours but still earn nearly as much money. I know it's much easier said that done, but it's possible.

The grass is always greener on the other side. I've stayed at home without working, I've telecommuted (worked from home), worked full time outside the home and now work 3 days a week outside the home.

Get your husband to pitch on on the must do house cleaning tasks, bathing and homework. My husband's cooking isn't that great so I do most of it but he does pick up Chinese one night per week.

Organization is key. Good luck! C.

Why don't you go talk with a financial advisor. They may come up with some ideas to help you redesign your budget, see if you can stay home, what your "new" budget may have to look like, then give yourself 6 mos to see if you can really live within those new means. If not, then at least you really KNOW that you have to work.

Perhaps if there is any "extra" money that you can save on the 6 mo plan, you can find ways to pay for a house cleaner once a month?

Also, you don't mention how old your kids are, but do they help out at home? Maybe an allowance for extra chores?

Something has got to give. Maybe it's simply your expectations of being Super Mom?

Hi N. - August 2008 my daughter was born prematurely and she was on oxygen. November 2008, my company moved to CT and I was laid off. Well, due to my daughter's medical condition, I couldn't afford daycare, still needed health insurance and my unemployment income was ridiculously small compared to my regular salary.

I tried a number of different "work from home" opportunities and was spending thousands of dollars for their products, advertising, ect. I was on the phone every other 1/2 hour from 8am to midnight trying to work to make an income AND trying to care for my daughter. (Yes, my husband was supportive.) I didn't have time for anything except for trying to make a dollar in order to keep up with bills.

Well, we ended up filing for bankruptcy in early 2009 and requested a mortgage loan modification. To make a long story short, a very good friend of mine made me watch an on-line presentation for a company that helped me SAVE my money and reduce my household expenses, everything from our toilet paper to health/auto insurance. In 2009, we saved $4,844 in household expenses.

When I saw my own savings add up, I started to work the business. NO selling, NO cold calls, NO parties, NO inventory and NO company advertising. It has been the best thing that has happened to my family. It is now March 2010 and I am still working from home AND still saving on all of our household expenses!

If you would like more information, e-mail me at ____@____.com or call 888-454-0971. I would love to show you how to save on household expenses and, if you choose, make a little money in the process.

To echo what some of the other moms have said, while working from home certainly has its advantages (among them less dry cleaning, fewer lunches out, not having to put on makeup every day =), it's still work. I am lucky enough to telecommute 3 days a week, and I'm here to tell you that there's no time to do laundry, cook, or clean the house... because I'm working! There's no playing with the kids (on days when school is out for vacation, I have to hire a sitter). I am certainly not any less stressed out than I was when I was working in an office every day. However, one bright spot for me is that I'm in a management position where I often times have to enforce disciplinary action with our office staff - and because I am not in the office all day every day, I find I am not as emotionally invested in their day to day lives. In other words, I don't care if they like me or not, so I'm able to focus on work performance and not become caught up in emotional drama. THAT has been a surprising benefit of working from home. If, on the other hand, you are in a position where you don't have any direct reports and are more of a "worker bee," you will have to make sure that your boss knows how much you do and how well you're doing it. Otherwise you risk being passed over for promotions (or worse, being first on the chopping block if there are layoffs) because you're "out of sight, out of mind."

Those are just a few things to think about in your search. You may also want to think about if you can budget your way into being able to work part-time. Maybe that would suit your needs as well; give you some time with your kids while you still bring in some income. I wish you the best of luck!

I'm not sure if this would be something you are interested in since you are helping with your husbands business or if that is still the plan if he moves his business out of the home. I work for a wellness company and do it from my home...all I need is a phone and a computer! Work at Home United provides you an opportunity to earn supplemental or replacement income (but is also residual income) while working from home....NO selling, NO stocking, NO shipping, and NO parties. No cold calls and there is no financial investment like most other work from home opportunities and is 100% risk free! This is NOT like Mary Kay or Avon and IS NOT MLM!!! We are a Consumer Direct Marketing company where we set up accounts for customers and the company pays up do so. I work for a company that has been around since 1985, won numerous awards, is very prosperous and growing daily and it is BACKED by the BBB!! You will receive a FREE website and FREE training!
Visit www.WorkAtHomeUnited.com/H. to request information if you would like to learn more or give me a call at ###-###-#### to schedule an overview call so you can get all the info up front to decide if this will be a good fit for you.

Working at home is still a JOB and work. We run our business from our home and we find that we are "working" 24/7. We are actually looking to move our business from the house to an office so we can walk away and not live, breathe business all day everyday. It is fantastic owning our own business and we are thankful to have a successful business but it is not as easy as a lot of people might think. I can't stop and do laundry when I have to make sure I have a trucking company ready to pick up a load of material, ship it to the correct location, the vendor making the product to our specs, etc

My housework falls by the wayside because I am working all the time.

There are advantages such as not having the dry cleaner bill as much but we still get out almost daily for lunch just to step away from it all. My hubby ends up on with overnight travel 2-3 nights a week and I have to maintain the homefront as well as business.

We only have 1 child and it is overwhelming....I can't imagine more than 1 child!

We are not into the MLM type businesses where you recruit people, spend $$ for inventory, spend $$ to join and have parties. That is not me at all. Think about the time constraints/contracts some MLM's will put on you if you choose to sign up.

Also, think about telecommute or job share. It depends on what line of business you are in but some companies might think more positively about that because it saves them money in the office, etc and you get your time at home, as long as you get the work done.

Best wishes.

Prozac was the answer for me. I couldn't quit my job when we had my son. I initially hated dropping him off at day care. But it was good for him. He made friends, and eventually I enjoyed talking with the other Moms we met there. When my son was between 1 1/2 and 2 yrs old, I was just trying to do too much but I couldn't see it. I was snapping at everyone. Hardly getting any sleep. Ran errands during lunch from work or on my way to picking up my son. I was running myself into the ground. Finally (after I yelled at my Dr when she told me jokingly I needed to get more organized (I had organized 18 hours out of 24 every day)), she put me on Prozac for 6 months and I learned to let some things go for a little bit. Split all the chores you do into an 'Important' list and a 'not so important' list. Good! Now lose the 'not so important' list for awhile. Take the time you've gained to just play with and enjoy your kids. They'll never remember how clean you kept the house.

Have you thought of babysitting? Look into what it takes to get licensed... I do feel your pain. I stayed home with my daughter the first 18 months. Then, I had to go back to work for financial reasons. I cried my way through most of the first year back at work... Two years later, I finally get to stay home... I hope you find something... I've heard medical transcription is a good route to go. You could work on that after the kids go to bed or while they are napping.
