When did you start working out after your baby? Did it make a difference if it was baby #1 or baby #2?

I lost all my weight with my first, but while I have gained the same weight with this second one, i feel like it is more fat than water this time. The first pregnancy I never stopped working out but this one I didn't work out at all. First it was because I had mono right before I got pregnant, then first trimester exhaustion, and then it was just- i don't want too!

I have friends who talk about bladder issues with the second one and I really don't want to deal with that, but I ran before I got pregnant this time for 9 months and didn't have any problems.

I did the South Beach Phase 1 for 3 weeks last time and plan on doing it again, but I was looking for some other suggestions.

I will be breastfeeding/ pumping so I can't go overboard on anything- excercise or diet.

Just looking for suggestions and options!! Thanks!!

Right drank tons of water and walked everyday pretty much right after I got out of the hospital I started.

I was young and lost the weight naturally with my 1st and gained it back over the years since!

With my 2nd I was heavier and never did lose the weight though I did start working out sporadically when he was just 4 months old. I lost that 'uumph' shortly thereafter.

With my 3rd I finally came tto my senses and I started walking from the moment the drs said I could! Then when he was 8 months old I joined the gym and started working out more and regularly with cardio and weight training.

I have now lost 58 lbs since my 3rd was born. Sadly I have ALOT more to go becase I was so lazy and slacked off after my first two.

And you can safely BF and workout-my son is now 16 months old and I'm stilll nursing even though I have lost that weight. Jsut make sure to keep tabs on your nutrition and water intake. You need roughly 500 more calories-depending on the age of your LO-on top of your regular caloric intake.

I know there is a site out there, its related to SparkPeople but its geared towards pregnant and nursing mothers. . .I but I can't remember the name of it!
EDIT: Found it! http://babyfit.sparkpeople.com/ There are LOTS of breastfeeding teams/support to give you suggestions for loosing weight while BFing.

It definitley depends on your delivery and how you feel. I was able to work out about 2-3 weeks after each delivery. I am almost 7 months out right now and getting ready to run a half marathon in a few weeks. Not going to break any records, just slow and steady. It just feels so good to take back control over my body again!

GOOD LUCK!

I never really got to work out after my first 2. I lost the weight but was very flabby. I just had my 3rd. I felt fine so I started Insanity DVD's 4 weeks after giving birth. Its perfect for me, I wait till the baby is taking his morning nap and do my 45 min. workout and I'm done. Of course there are interruptions so I just rewind and redo it. I'm breastfeeding also and my supply has dropped a little, BUT it has helped me alot with not feeling blue because I'm starting to look pretty good for summer and I'm not resenting the hubs because HE works out everyday before work. I love it! And honestly cannot BELIEVE I'm sticking to it.

Google "Lindsay Brin" or "Moms into Fitness". Lindsay is a guru of workouts when it comes to moms. She has workouts for while you are preggers and soon after you deliver. I personally don't start working out until after my 6week post partum check-up but I have a sister and girlfriend who both were walking on the treadmill or outside within a week of delivery. I think it all depends on how fit you were before, and during your pregnancy on how fast you feel your body can get back to it.

I worked out as normal through both of my pregnancies.
With #1, I went back to full, normal workouts 4 days pp. (As was totally back to normal shape by 7 weeks).

With #2, I had a C-section and had to wait longer. I started walking on an incline at 2 weeks pp, incorporating more aggressive work at 3 weeks, and back to full, normal workouts by 4 weeks pp. I was back to my normal shape/weight by 11 weeks pp. I also had gained an extra 7 lbs with #2, fwiw.

Both pregnancies - even with the c-section (no muscle was cut) - I was doing planks and twists as soon as I came home from the hospital.

If you never stop working out, you'll recover so much faster.
