My oldest son had yeast infections as well at that age, actually we had NO IDEA it could possible be a yeast infection. We just thought it was some type of chronic diaper rash, and we tried switiching everything.. diapers, wipes, soaps, detergents. Gave him oatmeal baths... everything.
When he FINALLY was diagnosed with yeast infection, the doctor prescribed a triple antibiotic cream as well as a diaper type med.. worked like a charm.

Hi L.:

My son had yeast infections when he was young too. There are different types of creams for it. So if this one doesn't work another one should. I would call the doctor and ask for another one. I would try to keep the area dry and change his diapers often. If you go to a pool or are swimming just make an effort to keep the area drier. Also ask about using a powder in the area to keep in drier.

Good luck!!!

Try wiping the area with a 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water solution several times a day. If it is the diaper area, everytime you change him. The acid in the vinegar kills the yeast. Also watch his diet, carbs feed the yeast, so watch his carb intake, especially refined carbs. the acidophilis in yogurt kills it too, just get the kind that is not loaded with sugar and make sure that it has the acidophilis in it. You can use the yogurt as a cream too, and apply it directly to the rash. Also, wash everything that comes in contact with the rash in hot water, dry it in the dryer or in direct sunlight. Otherwise you can reintroduce it next time he wears something that it touched. Sunlight will kill it too, so exposing the area can help.
Hope this helps!

Hi L.,
GO to GNC and ask to use their resource book. There you will find healthy and natural remedies to releive this infection. Medication can cause other problems such as loose bowels, upset stomach,etc.... It's also all in the food you are feeding your child. Go to Back to Nature and ask the nice people there. They are very knowledgable. Good luck

Hi L.-

Believe it ot not any diaper rash is a yeast infection. My daughter when she gets a rash I use triple paste and lotrimin. Yes, lotrimin (regular)is for jock itch but the Pediatricians are the ones who have told me to use it. It goes away quickly with this, and triple paste is great as well.

The other thing that was suggested to me was yogurt with active inredients. All your son will need is a few baby spoons a day.

Hope this helps. D.

Hi L.,

With Candida, if you want to go with an all natural totally safe non-toxic product that works, it's Threelac, I heard that they just came out with an even better product called Fivelac. Candida starts in the gut so the creams will give temporary relief but you have to address it from where it starts. These products are delicious tasting lemon flavored powder that you can put in your son's food or even in a bottle, it is lactobacilus that eats Candida, that is all it does. The results are quick and safe. The company that sells it is in California called GHT and the number is 800-305-5710. It is a bit expensive but you can buy whole sale and they are a great company who will give you a full refund within 30 days for any reason. And any amount is worth it for your little guy. I am sorry for his discomfort, I know that itching!!! I promise you this stuff works so well and fast. You can google it also to find more about it, it's all over the internet as I think it's an MLM but you don't have to bother with that. Please trust my long, very long time experience, you don't want to start your son on nystatin and things like that. Best to you and your son. Warmly, C.

Hello L.,

My son has had a couple bouts of yeast infections. My doc said to use Lotrimin, generic verizon Clotrimazole. I had to apply it twice daily, morning & evening. Within a few days it looked much better. My doc said that even if it begins to look good, keep using it for a least 7 days. Hopefully this helps.

Hi L.,
My baby had thrush, she too was on Nystatin(as far as i remember). i had yeast infection during pregnancy and she got infected at the time of birth..Her mouth and lips were all white.
I searched the net and found out that the bacteria u find in yogurt is helpful in getting rid of it..u can get it in any pharmacy,i think the name was acidophillus(with bifidus)i used it for three days and it was clear..actually i found a site that time which was developed by a nurse and was related to breastfeeding..and now i try to find it again for you,but sorry !!no success..
pls search more if u want to, before going ahead.I even talked to my baby's pediatrician regarding this.so u too can talk to your baby's doctor and then can go ahead with the treatment..
Wish you luck..
love to lil' one and hugs to you..

two of my children experianced this, but it also was a reaction to the dipers and the wipes i was using, so i switched dipers and use only unscented wipes (also a different brand) and used the med and it cleared up and never came back.

I agree with Cheryl about the Triple Cream!! It is wonderful....It has zinc oxide, nystatin(or a similar yeast med), and a hydrocortisone in it. We called it magic cream at our house.....if you can't get it from the doc, at least be using both the nystatin and zinc oxide....balmex is zinc oxide.

Hope that helps!!

Ask the doctor for mycolog. It's got an anti-fungal, anti- yeast and a little bit of steroid to help with the inflammation part. Seems to work like a dream for whatever rashes my daughter's had down in the private areas.
Good luck!

my daughter has gotten plenty of yeast infections and the thing that wrks the best with her has been warm bathes with baking soda and no wipes. just a fresh warm wash cloth to clean her bum. also now that she is 5 i give her acidophilus (frm GNC) although i'm not sure if it comes in drops but it is a natural way to work it out of the system. good luck i feel so bad for them when they have to deal with this. =(

Hi L.,

We are going through the same thing with our son. Nystatin helped for about 2 minutes and then it was back. He's on Diflucan now and it has been improving. I hope it all works out for you!

Try giving him warm baths with baking powder in the water. I'm not sure why it works but it does. My son has had several yeast infections.

My daughter had it pretty bad, but it ended up being a diaper rash also. Not sure if this will work, but we had to stop using wipes for 3 weeks, use only a warm wash cloth. Then alternate Destin creamy and caldesene power with each change. It cleared up pretty fast. The alcohol in the wipes was irritating it. You could also try to increase the Nystatin....Did they actually swab the are to say that it was yeast? I would check with the doc and see if the options that I suggested would work
