Please HELP!!!! WAHM Trying to Find Balance

Dallas, TX

OK, so I have been a WAHM ever since I was a mom, almost 4 years. I keep the books (AP, AR, & PR)for my parents' construction company. Sounds dreamy, right? Well, every time I sit down to work (when all their needs are met), I try to get in some work. Literally as soon as they realize I am working, both my kids go absolutley crazy!!! I am talking hitting each other, throwing anything they can get their hands on, and screaming at the top of their lungs. There are times during the day that my parents will call up needing a letter typed or something faxed and I have to drop what I am doing and work, even if I am in the middle of playing with my children. I know some of you are thinking I should just be focused on my kids when it is their time, but this is my job, and I cannot afford to quit. My kids get PLENTY of fun time with mom and dad, as well as time individually. They literally have it made, so why are they doing this? I didn't get half the attention my children get as a child. For the past 4 years I have been trying to work when they go to bed, so there goes time with hubby. If I don't work and spend time with my hubby, then I am behind on my work. (We aren't even going to talk about my house becasue it gets neglected no matter what.) Most nights I get about 5 hours of sleep. My 20 month old just started sleeping through the night which has taken some pressure off, but I am so burned out!! I freaked out on my poor husband today, yelling and acting like a complete child. I apologized and he forgave, but I am still so tense. My kids are in Mother's Day Out 10 hours a week which helps, but the more I spend on childcare the less sense it makes to keep working. I used to trade babysitting 20 hours per week when we lived near Austin, but I haven't been able to find that here. (I work about 20 hours a week.) Any other suggestions?

Seeking Feedback on Home-based Business Idea

Dallas, TX

I am currently working in a 40+ hr/wk, high-stress position outside the home. Although I have been with the company for almost 10 yrs, I'm not sure that it is worth it anymore....I don't get to spend the kind of time that I would like with my family AND half of what I bring in goes to our home-care provider. I have recently begun thinking about potential home-based businesses. I've seen lots of suggestions, on this website and others. But I keep coming back to something, that as a working mother I have often wished for: a helping hand. Someone to do all the little things that there always seems to be no time for: children's pick-up/drop-off services for school/pre-school/extracurricular activities, routine errands (i.e. bank, post office, dry cleaners, drug store), grocery shopping, etc... I'm just not sure how much (if any) interest there would be in this kind of service. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Seeking Work from Home Ideas

Los Angeles, CA

Hello Moms, I am interested in adding to our income doing some stay at home work. I don't think starting a business is within our means financially, nor do I want to expend the sort of time that it would take to do so. I would really appreciate ideas for part time work from home. In the past I looked into doing online surveys but wasn't sure which may be legitimate and if they would be worth it. In case this helps to know, I have undergrad/grad degrees in psychology and was a social worker before quitting to be a stay at home mom.

Work from Home Opportunities

Chicago, IL

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good source to find opportunities to work from home? I recently had my little girl and hubby and I decided it would be best for me to not go back to work. I have a finance degress and an MBA. I love being home with my little one, but I know i will have to go back to work eventually and would like to keep my resume active. The extra income would be great too. I'm hoping to find something 10 -20 hours/week that I can do from my home office. Thanks in advance for the ideas!

My husband is going back to school soon to get his MBA and I would like to do something from home to help lessen the financial blow. Please no get rich quick schemes or sales opportunities, I'm not much of a sales person. I would like something that has flexible hours because by baby's schedule isn't very predictable. Any suggestions? (please give as many details as possible, as I tend be a little on the skeptical side)
