31 Weeks Prego, Look Really Huge!

Athens, GA

I am 31 weeks pregnant. All of a sudden my belly has gotten huge! I haven't gained any weight and the only place I look any bigger is my belly. I am due March 22nd but look like I am about to deliver any day. Plus I feel like she has dropped some and my belly feels really stretched to the max and the muscles are sore. Is this normal? It kinda happened suddenly and people are starting to comment on my size. I don't remember being this big at this point with my son. Should I call my doctor?

Advice for Severe Pain in 3Rd Trimester!

Chicago, IL

Ok ladies I have a request... I am in my 6th month and having bad pain in my sacrum/low back/hips... I can barely walk. Lying down, standing up it all hurts... oh and did I mention I have 2 kids 3 and 4 that are in activities.. preschool etc... any advice on organizing time AND caring for yourself AND managing the house... cook, clean etc? I started seeing a chiropractor and it helps. He says come more often which is impossible because my 2 kids are sometimes a bit overly active in the office and he doesn't approve of that AND he freaked when I told him I took a tylenol for pain... the OB says it will not harm the baby he seems to feel it may... any suggestions? I feel like everything is Kaos and I am getting to my wits end!! Any advice would be helpful.. Thanks !!

Decision to Have a 3Rd Child

Dallas, TX

Hi ladies! Ok, so my husband and I are back and forth on having a 3rd child. I'm pretty sure that I want to and he would prefer that we just had 2! So, my question is, what is the hardest adjustment going from 2 to 3 children ... other than being outnumbered! I really feel like I'm ready to get pregnant again because I'm ready to be done with having children and I still feel like we're just missing something for our family. It's just making that final decision to throw away my birth control pills. Any words of wisdom? Advice? Regrets? Thank you!

Do You Think I Should Have Another Baby?

Dallas, TX

I know this sounds silly, asking other mothers if I should have another baby or not... I just want an outside option, someone other then my Mother to tell me what they think. My husband and I are now one those couples who have to plan out everything- we can't just "Oops" we we're having a baby. We have to sit down, discuss every little stinkin' detail and both decide if we can, want and are ready for another baby... ~:} My husband and I have been married for five years now; we have a little boy who just turned 4. Every since I put him in preschool, I can't get the baby cravings out of my every thought. *Bryce, our son is hyper- Very hyper. Not really disobedient but very smart. As a baby, Bryce never slept. Not at night and never for more then an hour for nap. He was a very fussy baby and I was a mess. I have to constantly keep up with him and he is very attached me. *My hours at work are great, 4 hours everyday in the morning which works out perfectly for our schedule. I'd have to take a long maternity leave after the baby is born, which is possible but I don't know if my boss can handle me being gone for months. My husband is a hard worker and is always the best in whatever he does. He is working at R2G right now but wants to change to a new concept store for ATT- It's a done deal if he decides he wants to work for ATT again. So, money is not an issue! *My wonderful mother-in-law use to watch Bryce for me before we put him into preschool two weeks ago. She is the best, but I don't know if she is comfortable watching an infant for 4 hours 3x a wk for us? *My photography business is booming and I'm really starting to get it off the ground. If I have another child, I'll have to put that on hold. I want to finish school but I'm not even going right now. I want my husband to get his business degree but I don't think he will if we have another child. *My husband wants to wait a few years and then have two, one right after another. I don't understand why but hey, at least he's wanted more children. I don't know if I want three though. *I want so badly to get down to my goal weight and get my pre-baby body back, I won't be able to do that either way- we wait a year or two, or have one now. Bryce was 10 pounds and I'm scared to death to give birth to another 10 pounder. C-section here I come. I gave birth all natural and vaginal, I don't know if mentally I can do that again. All these things I think about daily and yet I still want one- badly. Has anyone else dealt with this??? Help?? I don't know what to do...

Filing Cabinet Fell on Me - 8 Months Pregnant

Dallas, TX

Hello, i am 8 months pregnant and I am at work, and just a little bit ago I was in the back room filing and one of the huge cabinets fell on me, and pinned me between another one. I was trying to hold it up so it wouldnt hurt the baby, but some of the lower drawers opened and hit it. Not too hard, but still I felt it. I was yelling and got some men in there to lift it and get me out, and needless to say I was pretty shook up and my heart was racing real bad. My stomach hurts a little, but I dont know at what point to be concerned. After it happened the baby moved around quite a bit for a while, (probably because my heart rate was so high) but she is calmed down now. I had a few braxton hicks, and I am still sore, but do you think I just got real excited and jittery, or should I be concerned. I just want the baby to be ok. I am going on maternity leave from this stupid job next Friday. I have told them for months it is too difficult for me to file right now, but they threatened to fire me if I didnt because its "Part of my job" and they constantly nag me about it. This is the same job that called my doctor and was trying to get information on me behind my back.. but thats another story. I am just frustrated, and want to make sure the baby is ok. Any advice? ThankS!

Finding Out Boy or Girl

Chicago, IL

okay, I accidentally deleted my request. I was wondering if I should have a private ultrasound done to find out if we are having a boy or girl. During our 2nd trimester ultrasound the baby was hiding and we couldn't see a thing, the tech at the hospital wasn't very nice she was really rushed and didn't seem to care. The doctor said she doesn't need to schedule another ultrasound, because everything is going perfectly right now. Insurance won't pay for another one until 27 weeks either and the Dr. said if I want she will order another one then, but I would have to request it.

Freaking Out a Little....

Los Angeles, CA

Ok so I am totally jumping the gun here b/c I don't even know if I am pregnant yet but here is my story: I already have 2 kiddies, ages 2 and 3. My husband and I have been debating for quite some time about having a 3rd and we recently decided to give it "one shot" and see what god decides to do. This was during "prime" baby making time - ie one day before I was supposed to ovulate. I got pregnant on the very first try with both other kids so I am quite the fertile turtle! :P So, now that we have "given it a go" I am TERRIFIED!!! I have a gut feeling that I am in fact pregnant but can't test for another week. Now all these thoughts keep running through my head - like why would I "rock the boat" when our other two have gotten so easy and are such good buddies?? And I would have to put the career thing off a couple more years as well. So I guess what I am looking for is some advice from those mommies of 3 or more who see the GOOD in it - I went on some message board and there were several posts from ppl saying their kids are now starved for attention, it was so much easier with two, they are so stressed out etc. I thought the transition from 1 baby to 2 was pretty hard... is from 2 to 3 just as difficult?? Mine were only 14 mos apart and I survived so I am hoping I would do ok with this?? maybe?? lol I am excited at the idea of another baby but SCARED as hell at the same time!!! :) Thanks in advance!

Has Anyone Ever Had This Kind of Pain???

Houston, TX

Now this may sound a little weird, but I want to know if anyone has ever felt this. I have an aching pain that feels like muscle soreness. The only way to describe the location is to use this analogy- You know when you haven't ridden a bike in ages and you ride for a few hours on that tiny seat and the next morning you are soooo sore around your vaginal area (well more on the side of it) and toward the back near your butt. Well I feel that almost every morning and it eventually goes away during the day. I asked my dr. about it and at first she thought it was a vericose vein, but she checked and it wasn't. Then she said maybe I pulled a muscle. If that was the case wouldn't hurt all day instead of just the morning? Any ideas on what this is would be great.

HELP! How to Be Supportive to a Sister Who Doesn't Want to Be Pregnant?

Dallas, TX

Hi there, Just found out my baby sister who is almost 26 is pregnant. Her and her husband never wanted to have a child. She took a home test and then had it confirmed by a doctor yesterday. Of course to complicate issues she's very sick. Of course when she told me I was BEYOND ecstatic! My glees of excitement were probably the wrong thing to do but I couldn't help it. I just couldn't imagine her not wanting to have children. She feels like her life is over. I feel guilty now with my response to her announcement. I'd race over right now to be with her but she lives in WA. I have no doubt in my mind that she and her hubby will fall completely head over heals in love with this little one during the next 9 months. My question is did any of you feel this way too and was there something that someone said or did that made a difference for you. I so want to be supportive for my little sis and feel so helpless so many miles away. Thanks for your time.

Help! "Morning Sickness" Is Taking over My Life.

Dallas, TX

I know that other people have been in this situation before. I just need some encouragement. So, I am 9-10 weeks pregnant. I'm on summer vacation from teaching. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it through the last couple of weeks of school before my morning sickness got so bad I couldn't stand it. Thankfully, I got through, but now, instead of having a summer with my 4 year old, I'm laying around feeling really weak and puny, struggling to keep food down. The doctor has prescribed two different meds for nausea, but one doesn't do anything for me and the other has side-effects. I was elated when the nausea went away with the 2nd medicine, but then as I continued to use it, my exhaustion was unbearable and I started getting sharp pains in my back that felt more like chest pain than a sore back. I'd rather just be nauseated than be hurting my body. Okay, so I'm not taking any medicine, but I am really DOWN with my sickness. I don't know how many more times I have the heart to say to my little boy, "Mommy just really doesn't feel good right now." He's getting tired of hearing it. Now, I was sick as could be with him for these weeks 8-14. I worked the whole time, though. I honestly don't remember how I did it. One of my biggest complaints is dizziness. I wasn't feeling dizzy until last week. That takes it to a new level of miserable. What should I do? My mom and my husband have been there for me like champions. I am so grateful for them, but I'm tired of being unable to function and play with my little boy. Is there a solution, or do I just have to wait it out?

HELP! 28 Weeks and Can Barely Walk

Dallas, TX

I'm hoping some of you mom's can help me. I'm 28 weeks pregnant and in extreme pain. For a few months now I've been having shooting pains in my buttock area which I attributed to sciatic pain. It hurts in boths side but is usually more prominent on one side. It's gotten much worse to where any little movement causes a horrible shooting pain. I'm beside myself this morning because I'm just at the end of my rope. I can barely function and I have a 2 1/2 year old to tend too. I've tried exercises with a birthing ball, baths, massages, alternating hot and cold, chiropractic care and nothing is working. I'm petrified because I know this baby is getting ready to put on some serious weight and I just don't know how much more I can take. I really don't know which way to turn. I've mentioned it to my OB but she doesn't seem concerned or willing to do anything. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any help/guidance would be appreciated. Sincerely, P.

How Do You Know Whether You Miscarried?

Mansfield, OH

My fiance and I are trying to have another child in the future and im not sure if we had succeeded or not. I started three days early and only bled for two days. Then I started bleeding on the day that I would normally and have bled for two more days off and on. I dont mean the spotting kind this was heavy and sometimes would be bright red others would be dark red (normal). At one point it was brown like it does when you start to stop. The pain has been unbearable a few times. A lot of the pain seems like it is from a normal pregnancy but all the test ive taken have come back negative. I just worried because i've never had a miscarriage. If anyone knows the signs or symptoms please help me understand them. If you have miscarried yourself I am deeply sorry and I hurt deeply for all of you because that is something that no mother should have to go thru. Thank you for all the help.

I Cannot Sleep Help!

Columbus, OH

I need help. This is my second pregnancy and nothing seems to be the same as my first. Most differences have been positive from my first other than this. With my daughter I had absolutely no problem sleeping up until I had her. With our little boy I cannot stay asleep. I have gone to bed early, I stopped drinking anything after 8:00pm so that I wouldnt make bathroom trips in the middle of the night, I have taken baths with lavender, lotions and even used pillow spray. Is there anything that I havent listed here that you girls can think of that I can try. I am only 28 and I have horrible bags under my eyes which I have never had because I am up at 1 until 3 and then back up at 6 am to get to my fulltime job in sales. It is making me grouchy, emotional and I cant concentrate on anything. I know this is normal after a birth but right now this seems like a cruel joke. I am due in 7 1/2 weeks. I need sleep. Help!

I Feel like I'm Way Too Big!

Texarkana, TX

Hey, everyone! Okay, so I'm about 13 weeks pregnant with my second child. I've only gained about 2 pounds since I've found out, but you wouldn't know it by looking at me! I am very clearly showing! Really, I think my stomach is at least as big as it was when I was 5 months pregnant with my first child. I worked the entire time with the first one, and I stay at home now, so I'm worried about gaining too much. Does anyone know of any good exercises I can do? Also, has anyone else started showing so much quicker with the second child? My will power is non existent, so if I'm hungry, I'm gonna eat! Which has me worried! Is Two the Charm?

Atlanta, GA

Everyone around me is having their second and third child. It's starting to give me the fever. I vowed that I would never have another child, due to the horrible experience of my first pregnancy. (ok, it wasn't that bad, but let me give you history) I got pregnant (not married) and her father totally split. He still isn't really involved in her life. I had a rough pregnancy. I was alone, and scared. I meet my current Fiance when my daughter was 2 monnths old. We have been peas in a pod since. My daughter will be 2 next week, and I have been thinking that I don't want her to grow up alone. I grew up alone, and it wasn't fun. Sure, I got everything that I wanted, (almost) but I never had anyone to play with, or pick fights with! There is a 13 year age difference between my fiance and I. He already has 2 children from a previous marriage. He says that he would like to have a son, but I think he may just be saying that because he knows that I have been thinking about another child. We aren't rich, and another child would place a strain on us (daycare), but I want to know for those moms that have more than one child; or similar situations with the children having different fathers...what is it like? Is it twice as hard, or does it get easier? Is the 2nd pregnancy usually easier? I am welcoming all advice and opinions! Thanks!!!

Lost in the Confusion

San Diego, CA

I am only eight weeks along. At the begining of my pregnancy I had severe abdominal pains and had to go to the hospital. At the time of my hospital visit I was only four weeks or so, I was not aware that I was pregnant. However, they were supposed to run a pregnancy test. They said they did and that it came back negative. So they treated my pain by giving me morphine and prescribing me narcotics. I ended up in the hospital two more times and both visits they said they ran a pregnancy test and the result was negative. So now my concern is the baby's welfare and if there is anything I can do to rectify the situation the hospital put me in. I am a military wife and with the hurry up and wait process it's going to take me three more weeks to get in to see a doctor. Which will be my first and only appointment. I don't have family nearby and my mother passed away when I was younger. So a lot of the simple things I should know about this I do not. I just was wondering if someone was able to point me in the right direction. I'd appreciate any time that you could give me. Thank you.

Everytime I see a woman who is Pregnant (and it seems like they are everywhere right now) or with a small baby it hurts me inside. What I want to know is, from the other mom's out there that have been through this, how long did it take for you to not feel as sad about what happened?

I've had three c-sections and am considering a fourth. I've spoken with my OB, who does not prescribe to the "three is the limit for everyone" belief and assures me that a fourth is possible. I would love to hear some personal experiences with multiple (in this case, four or more) c-sections. Thanks, mommas!

My Baby Is 5 Months Old, Could I Be Pregnant?

Dallas, TX

I have a wonderful 5 month old but i am now 2 weeks late! I am still breastfeeding and was wondering if breastfeeding can cause your periods to be erratic? I have taken 2 pregnancy test and they came back negative (1st at 2 days late and the last one at 9 days late). Just yesterday was the first day that I experience nausea and I have been cramping for 3 weeks now. I cant use my breast as indicators of pregnancy because they are working on feeding my little girl. But I have started leaking 3 days ago, which I have not done at all. Please offer any advice or experiences similiar to mine. Thank you!

Need Recommendation for Good Place to Buy Nursing Bras

San Francisco, CA

I'm coming to visit my mom in the bay area and am in desperate need of comfortable nursing bras, since I am unable to find anything near my size in Costa Rica (where I currently live). My challenge is I'm only 23 weeks so I'll need a store with a very helpful and knowledgeable staff in order to find the best bra(s) that will "grow" with me. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the bay area and will also be up in Sacramento and LA on this trip too. Oh, and surprisingly enough I'm only in the 36-38 C-D range which you would think would be common enough sizes to find in a foreign country but seems I'm "uncommon." Any help or specific nursing bra suggestions would be welcome! - Pura Vida!

Need to Find SOOTHIE Brand Breast Pads or Something for Breastfeeding Pain

Milk has come in and, oh boy! I receieved a pack of these gel pads called, Soothies, not the pacifier. They got water on them and it broke down the material. I need to find some new ones and don't have time to wait for them to come in the mail. I live outside of Sacramento. Anyone have an idea where to buy, or how to find them other than online and delivered in the mail? Is there another brand you use? I tried the earthmama ones and they are too large, I need to find some that are thin, gel like.

Needles!!!!

San Angelo, TX

Hi everyone, I have a HUGE favor! I HATE HATE HATE needles. Not like everyone else though. I pass out with any kind of blood work (even a finger prick). This is not a joke. I know the blood work is important when you are pregnant, but I'm very scared of passing out while I'm pregnant. When I pass out it is very hard to get me to come to. I need help to not pass out with the blood work, I'm out of ideas or I think the best thing would be to refuse to do the blood work. And everyone will be mad at me if I do that. I don't get the big deal on the blood work (people had babies for hundreds of years without it).

Opinions on Having a Third Child

Philadelphia, PA

I am a mother of 2 boys, ages 21/2 and 5. This past July I found out I was pregnant, but had a miscarriage soon after. I would really love to have a little girl and my husband and I have been trying. Lately though, I am feeling a bit nervous and scared about going forward with having another child. My husband often works late and doesn't get home until 7:30-8:00 pm and he likes to sleep in on the weekends (nothing I do can get him out of bed before 11am unless we need to be somewhere). Has anyone gone through this? If so, what did you decide to do?

Pelvic Pain During Third Trimester

Dallas, TX

I am currently pregnant with my second child and I am in the final stretch with about 10 weeks to go. Over the last few weeks i have been having significant pain associated with the pelvic muscles. I expected to start feeling uncomfortable, especially after a long day but this is different. I am having moderate to severe pain when I am lying down in one position for longer than about 5 minutes. It gets worse the longer I lie in one position and I am unable to move or change positions without wincing or gasping. The pain goes away after I begin to move around but the first 20 minutes after I get out of bed are horrible and on top of that the pain in my sciatic nerve has started acting up as well. My doctor assures me that everything is normal as far as the baby goes and has offered a few suggestions including soaking in a bath, using a heating pad, and sleeping with a pillow between my legs but nothing seems to be helping. I hate to think that I may continue to go through the for the remainder of the pregnancy and I'm just glad that the pain goes away after I get up and start moving around. I was wondering if other moms-to-be have experienced the same thing and what if anything you have done to help relieve the pain.

Plus Size Preggers

Hi ladies, I just thought maybe I could get some advice from other plus size women. Im 31 weeks pregnant and Im so tired of people asking me if there is 2 in there. My husband is real supportive and he tells me im beautiful a million times a day but I just feel so fat!! Im aggervated so easily. I have pcos so that is one of the reasons for my weight gain. I have only gained 3lbs I have been controling it with diet and excerise. But when I look in the mirror I know im bigger. None of my clothes fit. I hate going to labor and delivery because what ever is wrong is always because of my weight. Which makes me feel like well we can't find anything else lets go with the obvious. Im high risk so I can't excerise. I can walk but that's limited and that about it. I just wanna be able to relate to someone else. Thanks

Second Pregnancy Question to Those with More than O. Child

Phoenix, AZ

Hello, I am six weeks pregnant with my second child, with my first being three and a half years old. I'm sure that all of these feelings are normal, but wanted to put it out there to see what you all did to pull through these feelings. First, let me explain that I was a single mother to my 3 year old from the moment he was born (long story). Now, I am engaged to my best friend of 14 years and he is adopting my son. So, now, we are pregnant with my second (his first) and I have been feeling that I will neglect my son. I actually cried about it because I didn't want him to feel left out whatsoever. Of course, I would include him in everything I do with the new baby. I would never push him away or anything. So, I'm not really sure where those feelings are coming from. Second, lately, I now am feeling that I won't love this baby nearly as much as I love him. Again, no clue where these feelings are coming from. He'll be four years old when the baby is born, so he'll be a great help! I've already told him that he's going to be a big brother. So, my question to you all is: have you ever had feelings similar to mine? How did you manage through them? What was the outcome once your second/third/etc. child was born? Any tips or advice to help me pull through this emotional roller coaster would be great! Thanks so much!

She's Only 7 Months and There Is Another One on the Way. OMG

I can't believe this. When I had my last daughter Ahlyssa it was so terrible. She came at 5 1/2 weeks, she was 1 lb and 4 ounces. When I was in labor I was asked if I wanted my tubes tide. Should We Have a Joint Baby Shower?

Los Angeles, CA

So, my friend and I are both pregnant. She is 2 weeks further along than me. We are pretty good friends, with 2 other kids the same age. I offered to throw her a baby shower and we have both been considering the idea of a joint shower. She doesnt have a big family or a whole lot of friends, and I am really the oppisite. So the guest list may be really uneven, and none of our friends or family are mutual. DO you think it would be awkward to have a joint shower, even if we included (in a nice way) not to feel obligated to bring 2 gifts. WHat do you all think?

Staying Sick Constantly - 9 Weeks Pregnant

Dallas, TX

Hello all. I am 37 and 9 weeks pregnant. The problem I'm having is that I am constantly staying sick to my stomach. Haven't been able to throw up. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I could do to help alleviate some of this. I ordered some of those PSI Bands but they don't seem to help much. I've also been taking B6 and of course drinking sprite, ginger ale and eating saltine crackers. The doctor is supposed to call something in for me today which I really didn't want to have to do but this feeling sick all the time is getting to be too much. I remember getting sick some with my last two pregnancies but I don't remember it being this bad. So I was just wondering if anyone here had any ideas for me to try. I'm hoping that once I hit my second trimester, it'll get better. Thank you all in advance for your advice.

Stillbirth Due to Placenta Abruption, Need Grieving Assistance

Minneapolis, MN

My husband and I were expecting our second child on April 4th of this year. We have a two year old son as well. I was 37 weeks pregnant when I had our first son Dylan, so naturally my husband and I were preparing for an early delivery with this baby (obviously just preparing, as only God knows when a baby will enter this world). We had our diaper bag, hospital bag and our son's car seat in our car, ready to go, just in case. On Saturday March 3rd 2007, we went in for an emergency check up due to reduced movements from our baby, only to be told they could not find a heartbeat. I was expecting to be told I was a paranoid mother and sent home. Instead we had to decide when we would like to be induced, so we went home, by this time our families had been informed and there were lots of people waiting for us when we arrived. We discussed options, but it still felt unreal. I went into labor naturally that evening, which I am now glad, because I know I would add induction to the long list of 'guilt and should have's and could have's and wished I would have's', that could've saved my sweet baby. I was dialated to a 5 by the time we reached the hospital and by the time they were ready to give me an epidural (about 20 minutes after we had arrived) I was already 10 Cm's so I labored for 40 minutes and gave birth to our beautiful son at 35.5 weeks pregnant, with no pain medications (which I am now thankful for, so that I will always remember the day I brought him into the world) he weighed 4 lbs 11.5 oz. We nameed our Angel Taylor Jeffrey Gerald, from that time on, we've had to plan and attend our baby's funeral, and instead of struggling to fit him perfectly into our lives, we're struggling how to go about our lives without him in it. I am now on my planned three week maternity leave, and I am doing okay (which is a severe over statment), but I am in need of a parent, especially a mother to talk to, who has experienced the same thing. I am a licensed childcare provider and have planned to re-open the last Monday of this month and part of me dreads the idea of continuing to a do business knowing that my son was supposed to be a part of it. I am so confused, saddened, angered, and just lost without my son Taylor. I have many, many blessings in my life to be thankful for, but I had wanted my second son in so many ways to complete our family, and the possibility of having another child seems so far from reality it's not even funny. I can't quite explain my feelings. I am so torn up inside with grief that I am afraid I will not be able to carry on without my sweet, tiny baby. If anyone else has experienced this adn would be willing and able to lend an ear, advice or to just shed some light in my direction in order to help me understand this grief. I am about to turn 23 on April 2nd, and I can't imagine celebrating anything from here on out that had been planned prior to the loss of our baby. It hurts to see an infant car seat. I feel like a basket case for wanting to cry in public. Life has taken such a terrible turn in the wrong direction and I just don't know how to cope with a loss of this magnitude. I've had my share of hurdles in my life, and have always been able to cope and come out on top. But I don't know how to get through this. I truly do not. Thanks for listening to me, taking the time to read this, and allowing me to vent. For those who do not know what Placenta Abruption is, it is when your Placenta Prematurely detatches from your uteran wall, thus cutting off the supply of nutrients and oxygen, it is typically detected due to severe abdominal cramping or pain and bleeding, but my placenta was located on the back of my uteran wall, they are typically located on the front. Being 35.5 weeks pregnant, and after being told that the baby was on my spine and that I would probably experience back labor, I associated the back pain that I had experienced with early labor symptoms, as the baby had began to push down. I bled, but due to the location of my placenta the baby held it in and I had no other indications anything was wrong. It happened so abruptly (which is what it is called abruption) that I am told there was nothing I could've done, but that is not how I feel. I constantly wonder if I over worked, was it the laundry baskets, carrying the daycare children, my own child? Did I not take the time I needed? Something I said? Did? I was offered help with my job, but never took it? I feel like my stupid pride and work ethic caused this. Savannah, Mommy to Dylan James Douglas, 2 yrs old Mommy to Taylor Jeffrey Gerald, became and Angel on March 3rd 2007

Swollen Feet

Dallas, TX

I am 31 weeks and my feet are SO swollen!!!!! They actually hurt a lot of the time - especially when stepped on. I realize that this is somewhat normal in pregnancy. My blood pressure is fine. I had swollen feet with my first pregnancy - but nothing like this. My 2nd and 3rd pregnancies I never had swollen feet. I try putting my feet up whenever possible - but being a SAHM with my 2 and 4 year old it is difficult to do so very often. When I do put my feet up I either turn into an instant jungle gym or have to jump up within a few minutes to do something for the boys. I have tried increasing the amount of water I'm drinking but my feet are still swollen and I'm running for the bathroom more! I can't even wear shoes anymore. I go everywhere in slippers. Does anyone have any advice on other things I can try? Thanks!

Tubal Ligation

Pittsburgh, PA

My husband and I have decided for me to have a tubal ligation. I am schedules to have the surgey this friday, February 20. I've been reading up on the procedure, and I'm have some questions about it that I hope some of you moms out there can help me with. First is... I had a horrible experience with the epidural during my last delivery and I'm afraid that it won't work again during the surgery. I've read that its up to the doctor on what type of anestia will be used. Did the doctor use the epidural or did they put you to sleep? How was the recovery after the procedure? I have 4 small children and I' afraid of being down for a while. Everything that I have read has different things on the recovery time. Any stories you would like to share good and bad would be helpful. I just really need some imput from other mother's out there that have been through this. Thanks again....

What Do Braxton Hicks Contractions Feel Like?

Chicago, IL

I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my second, and if I had Braxton Hicks contractions the first time around, I didn't know it. Since yesterday, I've been feeling occasional tightness and pressure around the lower part of my belly, just under my belly button. It doesn't hurt. (I should also mention that the baby is extremely active, almost to the point of being annoying! It's a pushy, feisty little 14-inch fetus.) Is this what the BH contractions are supposed to feel like? Also, when do you know to start paying attention to them? I've read if you have more than four in an hour, call your doctor. I think I had more than four in an hour last night, but then it stopped. Now my doctor's office is closed and I don't want to call the emergency number for nothing. So, more experienced moms, what do these things feel like?! I highly doubt this is anything to worry about, I'm just confused about what to do and how to know if it's ok to ignore it. Thanks!

What Symptoms Did You Have Early on in a 2Nd Pregnancy?

Dallas, TX

Hi ladies! My husband and I just found out that we are pregnant with our second child. We are completely thrilled as we have been trying for a little while now. My question is regarding symptoms. This time around seems to be different from when I was pregnant with my son. It seemed like last time I was sick from around 4 weeks and on. I had definate triggers that would make me ill as well. This time around it's not like that. I do have some transient nausea, but nothing like last time. I have also had a little cramping. The nurse told me that it was normal as long as I wasn't bleeding, which I'm not. It would be really helpful to hear some experienced from moms who have already done this and made it through. What to Do When You Are Ready for Number 2 and Your Spouse Isn't?

Detroit, MI

My husband and I have been married for 5 years and have a wonderful 2 1/2 year old son. I am more than ready (and have been for about a year)to have a second. We both agree that we want a second, but he wants to wait until we can move-- which will be at least one year. We have a 4 bedroom house, so space really isn't an issue. I agree that we need to move, but don't want to foreclose the possibility or lenghten the time to have a second baby. With the move, I am afraid we won't be able to afford a larger mortgage payment and daycare for 2. My husband is willing to discuss the issue, but unfortunately I find myself resentful that he doesn't agree, which ultimatley makes me feel as though he is the only one making the decision. Any suggestions for how to deal with this? I feel like this is huring our relationship, but I can't come to terms with waiting another 2 years.
