Opinions on Halo Video Game

Curious if anyone knows much about the video game Halo. My son is visiting my in-laws and his grandmother bought him Halo 4, is it appropriate for a 9 year old? I would never buy it for him, I'm not a fan of violent video games. I've read studies on the affects of violent video games, but I'm not familiar with this one and would appreciate any practical mommy feedback you can offer.

Don't Own Mature Video Games

We don't allow my 11 year old son to play mature video games at home. We don't own an Xbox or Playstation. The only video system he has is a Wii. Recently, we allowed him to buy a Teen game. When he goes over to friends houses, he plays the Mature games over there. We also have two younger children, 6 and 7 and we don't want them exposed to these games. My oldest complains almost daily that we treat him like a baby and his not so great friends make fun of him for not having these mature games and game systems. We really don't care if...

Unuentertaining 2 13-Year-old Boys, 2 10-Year-old Girls and One 6 Year Old Girl

I am watching my nephew this summer because he is diabletic and not taking control of it. His mother has tried everything she can and had to get a job to pay for his medical needs. He is coming here so I can make sure he is taking his blood sugar and insulin. His sister (10) is comming here by default because no one else will be home as both parents work. He loves playing Halo on the Xbox but I really want him to get more out of coming here than enhancing his video game skills besides it's not really good for his health. I need...

19 Month Old Sleep Issues

My daughter has always been rocked to sleep. She's now 19 months old and still wakes up 1-3 times a night wanting to be held and put back to sleep. We've never let her "cry it out" for more than 5 minutes. She just gets louder and louder and then starts coughing and sometimes even throws up. I know a lot of you will tell me my only option is to let her "cry it out", but I want to hear from other Moms who did this when her kids were my daughter's age and not an infant. I think it's a lot easier to let them cry it out when they are...
