Can Prolonged Use of Hydrocortisone Cream Affect Growth of Child?

Hello moms. My 18 month old boy has chronic eczema since he was 6 months old and have been using a hydrocortisone cream prescribed by our pediatrician. We have been applying this cream, a 2.5% formulation cream since he was an infant with varying degrees of eczema relief. He has needed it on a daily basis and we have been applying it twice a day to his ankles, wrists and behind the knee--the areas that are affected. We also use Aquaphor and pretoleum jelly emollients to relieve his dry skin. We have not asked our pediatrician though...

Any Adult Ever Gotten Fifth Disease? Any Treament Ideas?

Thanks to the internet, I have become pretty good and self-diagnosis. Well, I'm afraid I may have come down with Fifth Disease. After 3 days of low grade fever, headache, and body aches, I was fine for a day and then started itching on my back. Then it moved to my stomach and now it's my arms. I have a lacy looking rash on my stomach and there's some redness on my back and arms. Problem is, I'm miserable. I've tried Benadryl (oral and cream) and that didn't stop the itching. Hydrocortisone works for about an hour and then it stops...

Hand Foot Mouth Tips

UPDATE: We're all finally doing better. I think the trick is to be patient, give a lot of TLC, soft foods, and luke warm beverages. Neosporin worked well on the popped blisters between the toes, tylenol and motrin helped take the edge off, baths relaxed him, and keeping things dried out helped. Time helped heal the most. Stay away from others!!!! Thanks again for all your advice!! My 2 year old son has a bad case of Hand Foot Mouth disease. He has sores and blisters all over his throat, mouth, lips, face, ears, legs, feet, hands...

Head Itches from Allergies

Hi moms! This is almost embarrassing to talk about but my head itches so bad I want to scrub it with a Brillo Pad. I know the first thing most moms will go with is lice and that's not the issue. It's bad allergy time for me right now. I've always had a moderate amount of itching all over when this time hits but this is out of control this year. I'm thinking that it's worse since I've had my daughter in May. Lots of things that used to effect my body mildly are worse now after pregnancy so I'm just assuming this is one of them. What...

5 Year Old Medical Condition

Hi there My 5 year old developed a strange rash when we were on vacation in Florida. On Friday I noticed that the outside of his left ear felt kind of rough and was red. I didn't think anything of it, basically I thought I hadn't suncreened well enough. The next day he developed a rash on his belly that has now spread all over his body. The rash looks similar to a rubella rash, however, he is vaccinated against rubella. In addition, now his right ear is red and swollen too. Also his face is blotchy red and it seems a bit swollen too. He...
