What Products to Use for an Infant Who Has a Rash

Hi I was wondering what products many of you recommend for an infant (2 month old) who has a very bad sandpaper like rash all over her body. Her back is actually peeling today since her skin has been so dry. I did take her to her Pediatrician who ruled out any illness. He stated it may be sensitive skin or she may be having a reaction to a food that I am eating as she also has very bad reflux along with it. I use dreft detergent on all clothes/linens that come into contact with her. I use Eucerin on her skin which does seem to help a...

11 Year Old Allowance and Chores

I will have an 11 year old daughter in a few days and was wondering what are appropriate chores? She's an only child and a very helpful one at that. She currently helps by folding clothes, sweeping the kitchen/bathroom, feeding the cat/changing litter, cleaning her room and washing dishes (I'm considering taking this back). I know this is a lot of things that she does, but she's not doing these every day. How many chores are too much? Is the appropriate amount? Now my next question... How much allowance should she get? I'm considering if...

14 Year Old Thinks Rules Too Strict - NO MORE RESPONSES PLEASE. THANKS for ALL!

My 14 year old daughter seems to think a few of my rules are too strict. So, she asked me if I’d get the opinion of other mothers – particularly those I don’t know personally – and who have daughters her age. The rules she disagree with are as followed: My daughter can only attend two outings per month. Note: This includes things like going to the movies, hanging out at the mall, birthday parties, etc. This also includes spending the night away from home. My daughter thinks she should be allowed to do more each month and...

12 Year Old Behavior Problems

I am having problems with my 12 year old step son. Last school year he got 3 Fs, 2 Ds and a C. He always lied about having homework. At home, he wont do his chores. There is always a long fight. He says he's too tired, constipated, whatever, and refuses to do it. We have taken priveleges away, grounded him from friends, rewarded him when he does them--nothing seems to work. We've talked to his principal and counselor and teachers at school (I even went to his classes with him and sat at the back to watch his behavior and talk to the...

Vomiting, Diarrhea, but No Fever?

My 11 y.o. has a hyperactive immune system and rarely gets sick. I swear he could drink spoiled lumpy milk, spend the afternoon with a room full of flu ridden kids, and not miss a beat. He's ADHD and is on growth hormone injections (pituitary gland stopped functioning in this capacity when he was 3.) When he was about 10 months old, he had a pretty bad cold. When he was 6 years old, he had the H1N1 flu which only put him out of commission for about 8 hours. Otherwise, he's never had any other illnesses or even cold like symptoms. ...

Summer for a 12 and 10 Year Old - Leave Them Home Alone?

So my friend has 2 kids - a 12 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. As a family, they take two weeks off during the summer. For the other 6 plus weeks, she plans to leave them home alone while she and her husbad work 9-5 Monday - Friday. There are camps they can send them to that are not expensive (money is not an issue). They will likely go to a one week camp (for sports) for a week or two but that's it. Would you leave you 12 and 10 year old at home for 4+ weeks over the summer? I think they are insane. I think it's insane...
