My 3 Year Old Doesn't Sleep

Please help, I'm so frustrated, I just want to cry. My 3 year old doesn't seem to sleep more than 8-9 hours in a 24 hour period. Aren't kids this age supposed to get 11-12 hours of sleep in a day? She's been out of her crib for two months, and she started preschool earlier this week. Our bedtime routine is a nightmare (for me), and it has been for a while, not just recently. I start with the end of her TV show at 8:15, then it's brushing her teeth, which usually takes 15 minutes to half an hour because she doesn't want to cooperate,...

When to Remove Guard Rails from Bed?

My daughter turned 4 in January and has been in a big bed since she was 2 years old (her choice - refused to sleep in crib). We still have her guard rails on her bed. I am curious to know at what age do you remove the guard rails? She takes naps in our bed, and has never fallen off and in her bed, she always seems to be sleeping in the middle (she has a full size bed).

Bunk Beds Again

After much thought, I've narrowed my selection of bunk beds down to two. The one system is great because it is a low loft bunk, so its height is only 45". Since I am 6 months pregnant, and the kids are on the young side, this sounds great to me. It's big drawback is that it is a loft, so the lower bunk isn't under the top bunk, rather, it would stick out into the center of the room. The other system is a traditional system bunk that can be separated into individual beds later. It's much higher, though, at 72". I can buy an under bed storage...

Unruly 3 Year Old

I wrote a couple of weeks ago and i really need some advise. My 3 year old girl is completely out of control. She does not listen to anyone, she is horribly bratty, and has no regard for anyone else. When we are with other children, she will rip toys away from them, push them, and is ALWAYS the boss. But, she is the first to cry when someone else does something to her that she doesn't like. She has started talking baby talk all the time. It's not an attention thing, because I give her attention 24/7 and try very hard to be patient. ...

Embarrassed That 3-Year-old Is Still in Sleep Sack

It's not a tragedy by any means, but my 3-year-old refuses to surrender her sleep sacks. She just about still fits in them and does use a blanket. And (sigh), not potty-trained yet so that's not an issue---yet. (Wish it was!) I say we have to make them "disappear" in order to resolve this--that is if there is anything to resolve. I guess I could keep letting her use them as they probably provide a sense of security. Anyone else have "little big ones" still in a sleep sack? ***PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT I AM NOT POTTY TRAINING MY...

Toddler Big Girl Bed

My daughter just turned 3 and I am expecting a second baby in December. So naturally we are starting to prepare for the new arrival as well as get our older one ready for various transitions. One of those being moving out of her crib into a big girl bed. I wanted to know if its worth getting a toddler bed or just moving straight to a regular twin bed that she use for a very long time with the sidebar things to keep her from falling? My initial thought was to skip the toddler bed but the only thing holding me back is that we are looking...
