How Often Do You Wash Your Hair?

I know that we're not supposed to wash our hair everyday. I wash mine every other day. But in watching youtube hair tutorials lately, I hear lots of mention of only washing hair once a week. By day two my bangs are noticably oily and if I don't wash it for three days all my hair looks flat out gross. I use a good conditioner in the shower and air dry my hair most of the time and only use a curling or flat iron once or twice a week, but my hair is still feeling really dry (before it gets oily, that is). What gives?! So I'm curious...
