Looking for Advice on Infant Skincare

My 5 month old daughter is very chubby and has very red, chaffed skin on the back of her knees. I'm sure it's because her legs are so chubby, but I can't find anything that helps it. I've tried Aquaphor, Vaseline, A&D, baby oil - nothing works. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!!

When Nystatin Doesn't Work??

My son had an ear infection and was prescribe an oral antibiotic. As a result, he received a yeast rash. Over a week ago, I called my doctor and she called in a script for Nystatin. She said to put the Nystatin on first then put desitin/aquaphor/diaper cream on top to seal in the cream. I have been changing his diaper every time he pees and putting the cream on every time. I have been washing him nightly (fragrance free) and giving him a bit of yogurt (he's 6 months old). I have changed diaper brands three times and I even let him air...

Nystatin for Yeast Diaper Rash Making It Worse???

My nine month old was diagnosed monday with a yeast diaper rash. She was prescribed nystatin cream to be applied four times daily. We started putting it on right away and it seems like the rash is getting worse and she cries everytime we out the cream on. Does anyone know if this 9worse before better and burning/hurting) is normal or if she might be having a reaction to it? I plan to call the pediatrician first thing in the morning but thought I'd ask for any insight you have to offer tonight. Thank you.

I Have Been Using Nystatin for a Horrible Diaper Rash

Has anyone had any problems with the Nystatin? The dr said to use it 2-3 times a day. She has blister like red blemishes near her private. It's right along the diaper line. I am pretty sure that it's not the diapers since we have used them since she was born. I use the pampers. The Nystatin is the only thing that I can think of...

If I'm Sick Can I Get Baby Sick??

I woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. It hurts to swallow and talk. I dont have a fever or anything but I'm deathly afraid of getting my 5 mo old sick! Am I allowed to take antibiotics if I'm breastfeeding? I have a dr appt at 3 but until then I'm afraid to get too close to my baby. He seems sad that I'm not interacting with him much today but I'm not sure what might get him sick. :(

Thanks to all of your advice for my son's perpetual rash I did get him in to the dr and he is being treated for a yeast infection with nystatin ointment. We've been applying it w/ every diaper change and using warm washclothes to clean him- anyone know how long it should take before its cleared up. Its only been about 2 days since we started but I'm anxious because we have tried so much in the past with no avail.

Potty Traing a Kid Who Is Not Quite Ready Yet.

I know most of you are going to say wait. but I do have my reasons for it. Normally I wouldn't do this. so here goes. I have a two yr old who has had severe yeast infections most of his life. I can get rid of them I cant keep them away. I have tried everything and just got new suggestions the other day. which I am going to try. But if I can potty train him Yeast infections should disappear I am hoping. His second birthday was 3 days ago. he has about 3 dirty to 5 dirty diapers a day which isn't bad. So I believe he can hold it. When I was...

Treatment Needed for Thrush

I took my newborn in for her one month check up and was informed she has thrush. I just scheduled her 2 month check up and we are still fighting the thrush. It appears to go away but not long enough for me to stop treatment but shows up again a few days later. I breastfeed my daughter so I am treating both of us. She has the white patches in her mouth I do not have them. However I am experiencing some soreness and redness. A co-worker advised me to give her water stating the thrush will go away once I stop allowing milk to stay in her...

Nystatin & Diarrhea

We seem to be in a downward spiral of maladies! Three weeks ago, my 6 mo.-old was diagnosed with Thrush. (Which in itself is weird since he's on the older side for Thrush, and I'm no longer nursing.) We were given Nystatin, and after now our third round it has proven to be ineffective. During all of this, he also developed diarrhea, and subsequently a HORRIBLE diaper rash that we're finding hard to battle. Several of you have suggested Gentian Violet, and I've heard it's messy. I'm OK with his mouth being blue/purple for a few days. But is...
