Most Useful New Infant Item You had...please share...especially Preemie Parents

So my SIL gave birth VERY early last week..at 30.5 weeks gestation. My niece weighed in at 2 lbs, 1 oz. She has done miraculously..no vent the whole time, no emergencies and while she has not gained any weight yet, she is maintaining her birth weight at this point. She looks wonderful...even a full head of hair! I thought fat and hair grew last?? She is a tiny little spectacular miracle! She will be needing some selections of preemie clothes, and other such things. But I am wondering what were the most useful things you had for Preemies...

Trying to Get 19 Month Old off the Bottle!

My daughter is 19 months old and we're really struggling with getting her off the bottle. She only takes the bottle before her nap and in the evening before she goes to bed. Other than that, she drinks water (sometimes juice) throughout the day in a sippy cup. She really can't have too much milk regardless because she struggles with constipation. Anyway, we've tried giving her the milk in her sippy cup, but she let's it sit there. She will not drink it if it's in the sippy cup for some reason. It will sit there all day if I'd let it! YUCK!...

11 Month Old's Decrease in Fluid Intake and Constipation

Once again, I am tapping into the collective knowledge and experience of this awesome group! My 11 month old girl is not taking in as much fluid as she used to and is constipated. She used to take about 14 ounces of formula a day, plus what I mixed in with her and her twin brother's cereal. I also offer water in a sippy cup, which she only takes a couple sips of. Lately, her formula intake has declined to about 8 to 10 ounces a day. She is having at least 1 BM a day, but she cries/wails when she does it. It is a lot firmer than her...

Feeding 12 Month Old Apples

I started my baby on solids long ago, but tonight while I was feeding her apples I got a little nervous. I use to cut them up in pieces and make sure that they were soft, but I feel that she is now 1 year old and should be able to eat them better. Anyhow, my niece almost choked on apples after my sister gave them to her cut up into tiny pieces so now I am scared to give them to her like that. I gave a big chunk of apple tonight and she seemed to eat it fine with her two teeth and gums...but at the end she shoved the whole thing in her...

Teething in 18 Month Old

My 18 month old is teething, getting molars. HELP ME :) He doesn't seem to want to chew on teething rings and things anymore so I am trying things like pear slices and today I will go out and get cucumber? I am thinking that might be soothing to him? I hate giving him Tylenol and Motrin all the time, will also try the Hylands tablets again. But really why I am writing, you hear so much about the teeth when they are little but not toddlers. The kid is in pain, did everyone else go through this? Teething with a toddler is a completely...

Difficulty with Potty Training

My son is turning "3" in four days. However, he has no interest in potty training what-so-ever. It doesn't bother my husband and I (other than the high cost of pull ups); however, it bothers his day care center. He goes to day care Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and is with my mother on Thursday and Friday. He is supposed to moving into the "3's room", however since he is not potty trained, he can't go. We've tried all the tricks to no avail. Did anyone have any luck doing something off the wall?? I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Where Should My Son Sleep?

My son is 10 mos old and currently shares a bed with me. My husband says he should be sleeping in his crib by himself. my son naps in his crib, and is capable of putting himself to sleep. This isn't affecting my husband at all, he sleeps in a seperate bed because of our schedule differences. I feel that my son will be grown soon enough and the only time we get to cuddle is when we go to sleep at night. i don't plan on him sleeping with me forever, and don't understand why my husband is so sure this is bad for him. Is it wrong or unhealthy...
