Is First Years or Evenflo Breast Pumps Any Good?

When my son and daughter were born premature, the WIC offices where I lived provided a motorized Medella pump supplied from a medical supply store. Obviously this was very good. I know that Medellas are sold in Target but I also seen other brands. Is there an "off" brand ie, Evenflo, First Years, etc. that is comparable but without the price??

Where to Birth

My original plan was to birth at home. I've changed my mind for a few reasons, although I still fear birthing in a hospital due to unnecessary intervention and some "rules." The doctor I am going to see next week is at St. Anthony's. I assume that is where she delivers. I feel so uneducated about the hospital situation and birthing. I've really only heard and read negative things. I've also heard negative things about St. Anthony's. I plan on calling tomorrow and seeing if I can get a tour. I am 31 weeks pregnant and the time is getting...

Local Hospital Experiences

We are currently nearly 10 weeks with our second child and we can't decide what hospital/dr. to go to. We were military when our son was born so we didn't have a choice really where to deliver our son. I ended up having to have a c-section so apparently there is slim to none dr. that will even consider a vbac. So, although I am NOT happy about it, I guess our main and only option at this point is another c-section. I have heard from different women that Brandon hospital was NOT a good place to have the baby, and I heard from a few...

Pregnant Without Insurance

I just found out I am pregnant, well I think. I took a Dollar Store pregnancy test and the line showed up faint, but it was there so I think it means positive. I am going to go get another, better pregnancy test later. Anyway, my husband and I decided in February to stop taking birth control to try to have another baby. Well he left his job in May, and started a new one last week, but the new one doesn't have insurance. I know, how stupid of us to not use birth control or make sure we have insurance. Honestly, we don't have sex that often,...

Introducing the Bottle After Two Weeks. What If She Prefers It?

My baby is just over two weeks. I've been struggling with a lazy eater and a just adequate milk supply. By direction of my lactation consultant, I have been pumping and syringe feeding with expressed breast milk. Its getting tedious to syringe feed since its not just two or so syringes she takes but needs more like 3-4 after a feeding. I want to give it to her in a bottle now, but am terrified. One of the reasons I could not breast feed my first is that she was introduced to the bottle and became too frustrated at the breast. I just...

Natural Childbirth at Baylor Irving

This is my second post and I first wanted to thank everyone who replied already to my first. This website has been so helpful! I've delivered my last two babies at Baylor Dallas with the midwives there. I am expecting again and live only a few blocks from Baylor Irving. I'm wondering if anyone has had a natural childbirth there and/or how they liked the hospital in general (staff, rooms, etc). Thanks to everyone's generous previous posts, I've found a handful of OBs that deliver at Baylor Irving that I'm going to schedule consultations with...
