Hand Foot Mouth

My 2 1/2 yr old son has been diagnosed with Hand, Foot, Mouth. His mouth is full. Really full of sores. My pedestrian said to mix Benadryl and Maalox together and swab his mouth. Which is easier said then done with an over dramatic 2 yr old. He won't eat much because it hurt. I have been giving him children’s mortron, which helps. The sores seemed to have spread to his lips. Is there anything that we can put on his lips?

Severe Diaper Rash - 18 Month Old Boy

My son has a severe diaper rash. He is 18 months old. It seems to get worse every day for over a week now. His skin is bleeding in several places. I have put diaper rash ointment (Bourdaux's) on at every changing since this started. I change his diaper (Huggies) frequently - almost once an hour and immediately when dirty. Any ideas what is causing this or what I can do to get rid of it?

Giving Infant a Solutab

Hello! I have a 2 part question. 1) My 5 week old has been diagnosed with GERD. She was put on Zantac which didn't work and then switched to Prevacet. The Prevacet is a solutab (tablet that dissolves into granules). I was told to dissolve the tablet in a very small amout of water and then give her the pill with a syringe dropper. My problem is that the medicine is hard to dispense that way and most of it ends up running down her chin or stuck in the dropper. Have any other mothers had to give their infant a solutab and what method...

Is It Colic?

Hi moms, a few weeks ago, my 10 week old baby girl started having weird crying episodes. She would start crying uncontrolably mid-feeding *i am breastfeeding only*. It usually happends when i am switching between the breasts or if i am doing a diaper change in the middle of the feeding. She would cry even harder if i try to re-latch her, or even just hold her near my breast. She cries for the next 2+ hours no matter what we do, the only thing that makes it better if we're walking around while holding her vertically. If i try to give...

Home Made Butt Paste Recipes (With Maalox) for Severe Rash~

When my daughter was little, the Dr recommended some concoction for her frequent outbreaks of horrid (bleeding open sores..the whole bit) diaper area rash. Often it was yeast involved as well. It would change from one diaper change to the next. We would do as much cloth diapering as we could when at home, etc and that helped a ton (water only paper towel wipes as well). But I do not remember what the recipe for the Maalox included concoction was and a friend is in need (My child is 16 now, so it was many years ago for me!). Anyone have a...

15 Month Old with Strep Throat

My 15 month old daughter was diagnosed with strep throat this past Friday. She was given a shot of antibiotic Friday afternoon. As of this morning, she is still completely miserable. I have never had strep throat before and she hasn't either so I don't know what to expect as far as how long it takes to start feeling better. Does anyone out there know about when they begin to feel better or if I should be concerned that there is still a problem?

15 Month Old with Cold Sores

My daughter has had 102 temp since Fri and been absolutly miserable....so I finally got into the doc today and they told me she had "her first outbreak of cold sores." And that her mouth (inside) was covered in them which is the reason for the fever and pain. They explained that this misery in the mouth only happens the first outbreak so it will get easier from here. I feel so sorry for her and the doc said this is a very painfull and demanding diagnosis and that there is nothing that I can do except Tylenol to help with pain. Has...
