Your Opinions on Singulair

I have a 5 yr old daughter who gets a wicked cough a few times a year. This past trip to the ped he suggested we start her on 4 mg of Singulair. My husband is asthmatic and the ped feels that there is a possibility that she may be diagnosed later in life with asthma. She is considered at risk because she has had upper respiratory issues a few times this past winter. My question is that I've heard both good and bad about this medication and I am just concerned. Most of the issues involve behavioral outbursts and children becoming more...

Usage of Singulair on a 12 Months Old

Last weekend my one year old baby had to be taken to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing and was wheezing/dry coughing. He had to stay overnite in the hospital, was given respiratory treatments with Zopenex and an oral stereoid (Oralpred). Today I had to take him to the Pediatrician for follow-up and he's prescribing Singulair to be used for a few weeks, maybe even through the winter season to prevent another episode. My son was diagnosed with RSV when he was 3-months old last December, but have not had any other asthma...

Anyone Take Singulair While Breastfeeding?

I was prescribed singulair along with some inhaled asthma meds. I've been taking the inhalers for years, but my asthma is really bad right now. I'm breastfeeding a 20 month old, but only in the morning and at night. I take the med in the morning after he feeds, then he goes like 10 hours before he gets milk again. I was told it was safe, but now I've read conflicting things so of course I get nervous. Anyone know what Thomas Hale says? I don't have his book. Thanks.

7 Weeks Pregnant with Shortness of Breath, Prescribed Qvar-anyone Else?

Since about 4 weeks along, I have had such a hard time breathing! I cannot run like I was doing everyday, I can walk but not for very long. Doc has tested me, looks like I am okay. He prescribed Qvar, but I read that It causes birth defects in animals. It's a category C drug. He seemed fine with it, but I am nervous. I finally started taking 1/2 the dose because I am having such a hard time breathing. Has anyone had this strange symptom during early pregnancy and has anyone taken Qvar during pregnancy?

False Positive Pregnancy Test

I had what I thought was a miscarriage last fall and then the exact same thing seemed to happen this fall. I was late so I took a pregnancy test and it came up positive and then a few days later I would start bleeding. The first time my OB said it was probably just a miscarriage and no need to worry unless I had further problems so they did not run any test and just said to keep trying. This fall they did a vaginal ultrasound and blood work and said that there was no sac and my HGC levels were less than 5 so they determined that I was...
