Do You Have Consequences at Home for School Behavior?

My son is having a rough time in kindergarten and I'm really disappointed in his behavior. It seems he is not following directions, being very silly, having a hard time transitioning between activities, and often becoming angry (about things others did, things he couldn't do, etc) and he is unable to calm himself down and join his class. He is spending a lot of time in time-out and now in another classroom, I assume because he is too disruptive to stay in his own class. he had a lot of these behaviors in preschool too but it seems to be...

School Notes for Special Needs Kiddo!

Hi Ladies! Ok this is only the second day of school but, I'm not sure what to do. My son is in Special Education and he is non verbal. The notes we get from the teacher are appreciated but, so far she uses the smilie face, strait face and frownie face method. While I understand this is much easier...it's not very informative. Today my son got a frownie face in art for refusing to work. Am I out of line in wanting more information? I don't want to be overactive but I also don't want to be underinformed! Agh!! What to do?

Help with After School Discipline

I have 5 children 3 of which are in full day school. They are 6,8,9. For the past three weeks or so they have not been coming directly home from school. I have sat down with each of themand talked to them about why i need them to come home after school. It has had no effect. I have even took thier favorite toy away with no effect. This last thurs. I was out until 5:30 looking for them. Iwas finally able to find them when they showed up at thier friends house (of which i had spoken with only a few min. prior). I took all stereos away and...

Birthday Party Etiquette

Another question! My husband and I were discussing whom to invite to my daughter's birthday party. She can only have 10 people at the venue we selected, and the theme is relatively gender neutral. I thought, for simplicity's sake, to limit the invitations to little girls she is closest to--she already has her own list of invitees! However, there are 3 boys in question. One has invited her to his party, another has parents who are our friends, and the third is our neighbor and my daughter wants to invite his sister (she tends not to...

I Have Made the Decision to HOMESCHOOL and Have Some Questions

I have decided to homeschool and am very excited about the decision, but have many questions!! I hope that you all can help me! I am Texas so I am very lucky. I have a 4.5 year old so I am planning to start her at the kindergarten level. She has been tested a couple of times and already found to be gifted and has a HUGE desire to learn and with her not being able to go into kindergarten in school until a year from this coming August, I feel that this is a great option for us. I just finished my undergraduate degree in Education and...

Two Middle Names?

My husband is the fourth, and I've gotten by not naming our first two sons after him, but he is really pushing for this last one because it probably will be our last child. I just really don't like the name at all. He wants to give him a name that we both agree on for his first name, and then use my husband's first and middle name as our sons middle name, thus giving him two middle names. So if we named our son John, and my husbands name is Billy Bob, It would be John Billy Bob Smith. I was just wondering if any of you have children...
