2 Year Old and Socializing with Other Kids

My 2.6 year old daughter is very bright, vocal and enthusiastic. She is also very emotional - which on the positive side she shows empathy and compassion. However, it also means she can cry easily or have strong emotional reactions to certain situations. The one she most consistently has a strong reaction to are social situations involving other kids her age especially in a group. She does not really have any interest in playing with other kids. She goes to a home daycare and does just fine playing with the other kids there. But outside of...

Seeking a New Church in McKinney Area

We recently moved to McKinney and have decided to find a new place of worship close to home. We are very picky and want to fid a good fit for the entire family. I am looking for suggestions of places for us to try. We want a church with a great youth group that includes activities for 3rd & 6th graders. A good message is very important to us as well. We tend to like a more progressive church vs the traditonal route. We have tried fellowship church and think it is a little too impersonal. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly...

Do You Have a Nickname? Other than the Obvious 'Mom' :)

Just for fun :) My nickname when I was little was 'Ra-doo' because my cousin next door couldn't say 'R.'. Then, for forever, my nickname was 'Red'... my initials spell red, and I happen to have red hair :) Obviously, I've been called 'Rach'... My dad, for WHATEVER weird, unknown reason, always calls my mom (whose name is Patricia) 'Norman'. So cute. I used to do it accidently, but now I am the ONLY person allowed to call my husband 'Bert' (his name is Robert, but goes by Rob) My kids: Emily (Emmy), Madison (Madi, although...

Girls and Boys

i've been aching on this question in my head for quite sometime. Can a young female mother be a really good friend with a bunch of guys? i'm not sure how to really put this, but i find myself wanting to befriend men more than i do women. they are easier for myself to talk to, and i feel intimidated by most women. i have a two year old little boy. unfortunately i am going through a divorce and do not know very many mothers or women in the area. this is not my hometown where i currently reside. I have met some gentleman my age, i seem to get...

Best Diapers for Girls?

Hi- I have heard that there are diapers that work better for girls than boys and vice versa. For my son, we loved the Pampers but I am wondering if anyone could share their experience with both the premium diapers as well as the generic brands. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Moms of Special Needs Children

My daughter is 2 months old and is the best thing that ever happened to me. She was born with brain damage and nobody can give me any answers as to why this happened. If there are any other moms out there who have a child with special needs or know anything about this situation I would love to talk about how you handle the emotional stress.

Yoga or Something Else?

I am a SAHM & am wanting to find a good dvd for at home yoga or pilates. My goal is to get back in shape after my son is born(any day at this piont). I've looked at Target & have considered buying one of each. Any suggestions? I want to be able to do it at home with or without the baby. Something I can do on my own time, ya know? I understand yoga is more meditative & pilates is more of a "workout" but I just don't know what would be better. Thanks!
