ok i am a late on responding. But this also happened to me with my son. My dr always said there can be a false negetive never a false positive. If you are not pregnant there could be something wrong with you. But i didnt find out i was pregnant with my 5 year old until i was about 5 months, long story. Good Luck

With my first pregnancy the first 2 pregnancy tests I took were negative... then the 3rd said I was. When I had my son the first one said yes and the second said no. I ended up going to the Dr. a couple weeks later and having them give me one. Which is what I would advise you to do also.

With a test, if you get a second line with color, no matter how faint it is, you are pregnant. If you get a line with no color, it's an evap line. There is no such thing as a false positive!!!!!!

I just went through the exact same thing 4 weeks ago. Here's what I did: Call your OB/GYN tell them that you took two home pregnancy tests, one at night and one in the morning when the hormone level is the highest, and got conflicting results; ask them to call in an order for you to have a blood test taken. That way you skip the wait to see the doctor, the office visit with copay and the wait. You can most likely go today, get your blood drawn and call in about 2 hours to get your results. I went to Medina General (where my OB is) and that's exactly how it played out for me. BTW, it was negative ;)

Usually the first morning urine is the best for taking a pregnancy test. But like previously mentioned go and buy the one that reads pregnant or not pregnant. As weird as it sound you could of did the test wrong. You know that when you pee on the stick you are suppose to hold it as straight as you can and lie it on a flat surface. When going to put it on a flat surface you could of possibly tilted it and it gave you a false reading.

I think you need to contact your gynecologist. It may be too early for a home test to detect if you are indeed pregnant. Maybe an HCG Quant level, a blood test is the best way to go.

It's always best to assume that you are pregnant and take the proper precautions like not drinking and smoking, just in case, as the first tri-mester is super sensitive.

The best is what everyone else suggested, call the doc and get blood work.

The best thing you can do is go see your doctor and have a blood test done. My home test kept coming up negative but I was showing all the signs. The blood test is very accurate in telling me I was pregnant.

You can have a false negative pregnancy test but a positive pregnancy test can't be wrong. The hormone that makes the line turn blue should double daily (I think), so I would just take another test and see...by now you should definately get a positive reading. However, I was told that I had a chemical pregnancy, which meant that I had the hormone, but the whole thing didn't go through completely. I hope that it works out the way you want it to.

It happened to me,the test came positive twice the same day when MY PERIOD GOT LATE,then after few days i got period,i called my doctor and she suggested blood test to make sure if i was pregnant or not.The blood test showed no signs of pregnancy.its been a year.i think u should take blood test instead of getting worried .Talk to ur doctor.

I would recommend getting a blood test. They give you the results in about 1 day. This has happened to me and the blood test is the most accurats. I hope this helps. The home tests came out neg and the blood came out positive.

I had a bunch of tests come up negative, including blood ones from the docter and when I was 3 mos pregnant they did an ultrasound...and still said I wasn't pregnant...I was about 4 mos along when they finally ordered a blood test that came back positive...(he was a 7lb13oz happy baby boy!!) that's scary..it's a good thing I don't drink!! Take another or call your OBGYN. This may sound stupid, but when you are talking about something as big as this you can never be too sure!! I will pee on three or four sticks which really isn't necessary because they are really rather accurate. It's possible to have false positive, but not a false negative.

I would not rely 100% on those tests. With my first child I took 2 and both came up negative, but sure enough, I was indeed. My Dr. said it has to do with a certain hormone and in some women it just isn't as strong as others. I think the safest thing to do is go see your Dr or planned parenthood and have a real test done.
I was also told that stress can often times make you period late and sometimes even have some of the same simptoms as being pregnant also, if you think you may be pregnant then your body will take on that role. I wouldn't rule it out that you could be pregnant just incase, but it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and set up an appt. Good luck to you!

I would call my doctor and ask them what you should do but my guess is they will tell you to wait a week and take another test.

Home pregnancy tests are hardly ever 100% accurate. I took 3 tests when I was 3 weeks late and all 3 came out to be different shades and contrasts. So, I went to a women's health clinic and had a free medical test done. They also provided a little bit of counseling and next step planning. They were very nice and very private. I'm sure there are free clinics wher eoyu can go and get a real test done so you know for sure.

You should always assume that you are pregnant so in case you are, you will be doing all the right things for the baby. When I had my son, the first test I took was very faint positive. I called my doctor and they told me to wait a few days to a week and then take another test (that one came out positive). I would ultimately call your doctor and talk to one of the nurses (if they have that available). Good Luck with everything!

This happened to me also w/ my second child. The one line was very dark when the other line was barely there, but enough that I saw something that resembled the line.
It does sound like you are pregnant, but take another test in a couple days and see....but I'm sure you probably are!

I would take another test and see what that test says - but I would assume that you were pregnant so that you are more likely to take all the precautions until you know for sure.

I would also call your doctor and ask them what they think maybe you should make an appointment - it's always better to be safe than sorry (sorry about the cliche it's still early for me).

You can get "false" negatives, but you can not get "false" positives. I would say that you are pregnant. Good luck. You could always try the ones that actually say "pregnant" or "not pregnant"

I had that same problem and you will need to go to the doctor now b/c what ever they say is right I took 2 tests one was psitive and the other was neg. so call your doctor to find out for sure Let me know Thanks Danielleb

wow a lot of mixed advice on this one but here's some more i know you can get a flase negative cause there can be not enough of the hormone in your body to produce the results but you can not get a false positive, so if the first test was positive i'd give it a week just to see there are always reasons that you could be late other than pregnancy and then i'd call my ob. good luck and i hope this helps

If you do indeed believe you are pregnant go to the doctor and they can for sure tell you if you are pregnant or not. I know it took me 2 tests before mine showed up positive and I was 6-8 weeks along at that point. Best of luck! :-)

I had that happen with me for pregnancy number two. So I went and bought a third test. On the third one I peed in a cup, and let the stick soak good in the cup for like 1 minute. and It came back positive. Keep in mind you can get a false negative, but not very likely you will get a false postive!!!!! When in doubt call the doctor tell them what happened and the can to one! Good luck, let us know.

My doc said these things are very accurate and you are more likely to get a false negative than a false positive. I would take another and if it is still inconclusive go to the doctor and have them do one. I recommend a brand with a red indicator line, my first pregnancy test with my first child was very very faint and my husband didn't think it qualified as a positve so we went and found a couple of other brands and took them that night. The red one (I think it was EPT, but that was in 2001) was the easiest to read by far. You could also try the ones with a digital readout, it actually says, pregnant or not pregnant on a digital screen. Good luck!

If you have insurance, I would go to the doctors for a blood test. They seem to be more accurate early on.

sounds like you need to go to the doctor and have the blood pregnancy test done....I have a son that is now 8...I took like 3 pregnancy test at home and they all came back negative, but I was late and had never been....this is when I went to the doctor and had blood work done....I got a wake up call at 8am and all they said to me was the YOU ARE PREGNANT....I thought oh my gosh....so that would be your best bet, or give it another week or two and see if you start. call your doctor and see if he can do a blood pregnancy test in his office or see if he can refer you to a lab that can. if youre any where near warren, the st. joes hospital here has a retail lab. you dont need an appointment and there is a long list of blood tests they can do for 10 dollars or less. the blood pregnancy test there is $10.00.

You should use another test. Get the ClearBlue & Easy DIGITAL test. (Often times they come in a 2-pack.) I've found they are the most accurate.
Just to warn you, you CAN get false positives. They say they're rare, but I've gotten them several times, especially on the cheaper brands. In fact, I just had one, and started my period 3 days later!

You could also go get a blood test done, by your dr's office. They are often times more accurate than peeing on a stick.

I would definitely take another test! They sometimes are know to be wrong. If it comes out negative again, maybe your period is just late because of stress or something.

You may want to wait and take a test first thing in the morning.Thats usually what they reccomend anyway.A few of my friends had a hard time with their tests which they ended up doing blood tests to find out that yes they were indeed preggy.But deffinetly try first thing in the morning and go from there.Hope you have the outcome your hopeig for!

When I was pregnant, I too was about a week or so late. I took the test and it also had such a faint line that I didn't think it was positive. I wound up going to the DR for another test. Defininetly call the DR, that is the only sure fire way to know.

Go buy the test that reads "pregnant" or "not pregnant", and take the test in a day or two. Or, get one of the early reading ones. Some of the tests say right on them that you have to be so many days late for the test to pick up that you are pregnant. Make sure you look at that when you buy the next pregnancy test.

You cannot get a false positive, but you can get a false negative. If it says you are pregnant, you are. If it still says you aren't, but you don't get your period within a few days, then you should go see your doctor and get the Serum Pregnancy Test (blood test). Sometimes the levels of hormones in your body aren't enough to show that you are pregnant very early on, so you could be pregnant and just not far enough along to test positive yet. Take the test right away in the morning if at all possible because your hormone levels will be the highest then (most concentrated), and put the urine in a cup and dip the stick in so you can be sure that the test is done correctly.

I WOULD TRY ONE MORE TEST. BY THE ONE THAT READS OUT PREGNANT OR NOT PREGNANT. A TEST CAN COME OUT NEGATIVE EVEN IF YOU ARE PREGNANT BUT A TEST CAN NOT COME OUT POSITIVE IF YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT. SO IF YOU GET A POSITIVE THEN YOU ARE PREGNANT. HOPE I DIDN'T CONFUSE YOU! GOOD LUCK K.

I would call your doctor, ot only can they do a test but they might have answers as to why your late if the test came back that you were not. It would just bring a piece of mind to you if you know one way or the other.

When I suspected that I was pregnant my first test came back negative. A few weeks later it came back positive! I'd refrain from anything that you wouldn't do if you were pregnant until you get a definitive answer. You can always have your doc office do a test for you. Best wishes!

I'm expecting our second child anyday now, and I actually had the same experience the month prior to actually conceiving. I took 5 or 6 tests and ended up starting my period 2 weeks late. In my case, I had abruptly stopped taking the pill - which can have adverse affects on your "normal" cycle. Could this be the case for you?

In terms or wondering if your pregnant even if the test says your not - taking one everyday will only drive you nuts and waste $$$. Wait one week - if still no period, take a test. If you miss more than one cycle, I'd call your OBGYN and go in for a visit. :)

In terms of assuming you are - I did - its better to be safe than sorry - if you ARE pregnant but the tests are wrong, it wouldn't be smart to go out drinking with friends! :)

i had that happen to me with my oldest you should see a doctor and have them do a test they can do a blood to tell you for sure if you're pregnant or not.

The best you could do is see your OB/GYN and get checked. You could be experience a false positive or a false negative. You can only be sure with exam and blood work.

with my last pregnancy i took the test and it had the same very faint line and the normal line to let you know the test is working , i took a second one and it was negative , two days later i took another one it was definately positive - i was confused , i made an appointmet at a pregnancy clinic where i found out i was definately preg! so id double check myself if i were you:)

I actually had a blood test done at the doctors b/c they were going to admit me into surgery to have gallbladder removal surgery, i had a bloodtest done b/c my dh and i were trying. Well the test came back negative but that night i got a few tests at the store and took them b/c i was late and felt weird and this was my second pregnancy so i knew a little bit, but i was pregnant indeed. My doctor was very surprised to say the least. I don't mean to complicate things but in my case the pregnancy tests from the store were more accurate than the blood test.

Hey there. Do not assume your not pregnant. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I took a home test, it was a light line that said pos, so the next day I called the doctor and got a blood test done, and they said it was neg. But I had still not started, and I was having morning sickness, so I left the doctors and went and got a home test and it came out pos.. I was thinking ok Have I lost my mind ? So then I went to a womans clinic and took a test and they said it was inconclusive, I was thinking this is crazy... then a few days later I went to Birth right and took a test and she told me I was negative.. So I called my doctor and was like Ok, take another blood test this is crazy and they did, and it came up positive ( I swear this is all true).. If I was you, I would wait a few days and take a preg test in the early morning, when you wake.. if it comes up positive, then you are. Home tests have never been wrong for me. Let us know how it goes..

Probably not but time will tell. The first morning urine is what you are supposed to use. Being hungry could be just wanting to be pregnant but being tired may also be. Wait a few weeks and see what happens, time will for sure let you know.

Hi P....congratulations!! The same thing happened to me and I had a beautiful baby boy 9 months later!! Call your OB and they will probably want to do a blood test to be sure, but if your first test was positive (even a little bit), chances are, you're pregnant! (the faintness comes from you be in the very early stages of pregnancy, so the hormone is there, it's just not very plentiful yet) Good luck!

I'd just call your OB. They can do a test in their office to confirm your results. Most times it is cheaper to do it that way rather than to keep spending money on tests anyway! Good luck,,..either way your hoping!

if the line came back even with the faintest line, that means it found the preg hormone in your system. i would go to your family doctors and request a blood test. tell your doctor about how one came back postive while the following came back neg. a blood test is the only way you can truley know the real results. i have had this issue before with my first pregancy, and it i was preg. i suggest you go get blood work done in order to verify what the first test says.

I have known of someone who had the same problem and took several test coming out negative but was pregnant. It was just to early to tell so maybe try one that is for early detection or just wait a few more weeks and try again. I know it is hard because when you think you are you want to know right now or in my case deny it until 3 months have passed and you are so pregnant there is no way of dening but best of luck and hopfully you will know soon.

I had the same thing happen to me when I was pregnant with my second child. I would go to the doctor just to be sure. I had been tested by my doctor for the previous five months and they had all been negative, but when this happened I was three months pregnant. Good luck!

Morning results are fails...too much stored protien. The box even says don't take the test in the morning when you first wake up. Try in the afternoon or around dinner with another test but it sounds like you are pregnant to me.

Hi P., I had something similar happen with me where I strongly suspected I was pregnant but I took four home pregnancy tests over 3 weeks before it showed a positive result. I was having symptoms and no period so i kept taking the test because it takes a while for the body to start producing hcg, the pregnancy hormone that the tests look for. I hope this info helps.
