My family and I moved here from out of state and are trying to find a church home. We have tried some and are not having any luck. Does anyone have any suggestions for churches in the East Orlando area?

What can I do next?

I attend Woodbury Presbyterian Church http://www.woodburypres.com/ They are located off of Hwy. 50 off of Woodbury Road (which is just a little east of Alfaya Trail-near Waterford Lakes). I've been a member there for about 2 years now. There are a few reasons why I choose this church over many others in the area. Here are those reasons:

1)They stress the importance of your own personal and spiritual growth with Christ. And they offer many ways to help you on and to support you on this journey.
2) They are a down to Earth and friendly church. This isn't a church that you walk into and feel as though you are being judged or that people are there to show off or think they are better than you.
3) They have an amazing childrens program for all ages. With 3 children 3 and under this was one of the most important things for me.
4) Sunday School is held for adults and children almost every Sunday at 10 a.m., which is right between the two services.
5) 2 services that you can decide which is better for you. 8:45 is the traditional service (has the choir) and 11 a.m. is when the contemperary service is held (has a band).

Those are just a few of the wonderful reasons why I decided upon this church. It is a smaller church, with maybe a total of 300 members. Don't let the size full you though, this is an amazing little church that is full of life, growth, and the desire to help ourselves, our children, and others find and grow in Christ.

Oh, one more thing that I really enjoy about our church is that we really try hard to give back to the community. We have a food pantry that is open every week on Monday and Thursday from 9 to noon. People come in and receive food, but we also minister to their spiritual needs as well, and if they are not interested in that we just give them someone to talk to.

There is also a missions trip to Mexico to help out our sister church. They do this mission during the summer and are hoping to have 2 trips this year lasting a week each.

VBS will be held in June and registration is free.

Please check out the website and if you do decide to give us a try feel free to let me know when you are attending and maybe we can meet.....one more thing, I don't leave my children with any one other than my parents and my best friend of 30 years. Since I have been a member at this church I leave my children in the nursery and I also let my little 3 year old attend sunday school. I can't say that I felt comfortable leaving or have left my children in other church nurseries.

My church also helps out other churches who need help with one thing or another. We believe that it isn't important what church you belong to (although we would love it if it was our church) but instead that you help everyone you can witness and grow in Christ. We have plans to build a new building which is going to be amazing!

Good luck and God Bless! Check out the website and see what you think.

I attend ST. Maximilian Kolbe in Avalon Pak currently held at Avalon Middle School. I LOVE IT!

Also, there is LifeSong on Alafaya which is brand new and non-denominational. They also have a childcare too :O)

On Lake Underhill is St. Steven's which is Presebyterian and I'm actually trying to get my son into their day care/ school because it's above exceptional.

Hi A.,

I live in kissimmee, and there is a mission that just started there it is a small parish and is family based. My Father is the priest and I do the choir and am his secretary. We are in the middle of a reconstruction but will be done soon. I know that you live in the east Orlando area but I wanted for you to have some knowledge of us so this is our web site for you to check out. www.theorthodoxmission.com
I also know of a church in downtown Orlando that is called St. George's which is also a nice church and also new renovated. The services are just beautiful. I did attend there before our mission began. Hope you find what you are looking for.
Take care and may God Bless.

Hi

We go to a really neat Bible church off of Aloma and Goldenrod, located in a retired fire station. It's called Central Florida Bible Church and while small, these people are friendly and involved and most important teaching the Bible. We also have a great Choir. You can ask me any questions or you can find them on the internet, that's how most of our new-comers find us. Hope this helps.
Ps Our Sunday school starts at 10:00 and church at 11:00, they have Wed night church and Sun night church also.

Sincerely,
D.
