Cookie Ideas Anyone?

I have a very easy inexpensive, good tasting cookie I use every year. You can even do it after several glasses of that wine and it would still taste good. I got it from one of those everyone contribute a recipie books that some organzaitons use for fund raisers. Their called Swiss Chocolate Cookies. Here goes- 1 chocolate cake mix box any brand, 1/2 cup oil, 2 eggs and powder sugar. mix the first 3 ingredients togeather. roll dough into 1 inch balls. roll the balls into the powder sugar. place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 min. longer for crispy, shorter for chewy. cool on a cookie rack for a few min.

The only down side is that they only make about 2 and 1/2 dozen cookies at one time. My kids love making them with me.

Thin mint cookies:

Ritz crackers
wilton mint chocolate melting pieces from the craft store

Melt the chocolate in the microwave and dip the ritz crackers in them. You can decorate with Christmas sprinkles if you like. Let them cool on parchment paper.

They are VERY easy and VERY good!!

We like turtles to go along with our holiday cookies. Easy--

round pretzels
rolo candies
whole pecans

take pretzels and spread them out on a cookie sheet. Put a rolo on top of each pretzel. Bake for about 10 minutes on 325 and then as soon as you take them out, top with the whole pecans--press it down a bit. Let cool and enjoy!

Also has extensive, and I do mean EXTENSIVE tips and pictures on decorating for the holidays, making gifts for the holidays, things your children can do, etc. It is the best website of it's kind in my opinion. Only thing I dislike is an occasional pop-up ad or survey., but well worth the nuisance for this great website. I always sign up for there 100 days of holiday program. They start before Halloween and send something of interest (email) everyday until new years. Love it.

I like to make the chocclate pretzels - buy the ring pretzels from Jewel, purchase the white almond bark - melt the almond bark in the microwave - put the pretzels on parchment or waxed paper - drop in one teaspoon of the chocolate - put an M n M in the middle or shake christmas sprinkles over the chocolate.

My favorites are chex muddy buddies, spritz, and fudge (not really a cookie).

I would ask others for their favorites. Your family-what do they like at others' homes? Your friend, what are her favorites? Baking is nice in that if you follow the directions, it's hard to mess up, so maybe you could try one or two new recipes this week and see what you think (you've been given a good list).

My old 1969 Betty Crocker Cookbook is my Christmas Cookie Standby. I suspect the newer version has most of the same recipes. My favorites are: gingerbread men, russian teacakes, peanut butter cookies with a hershey's kiss in the middle, and frosted sugar cookies (but add about 1/2 tsp almond extract along with the vanilla - it makes them oh so much better).

I absolutely love my Spritz cookies. They are so good and small so they pack into plates that you may give away very easily without breaking! You do have to buy the Spritz contraption. I use the crank one NOT the electronic one and it is so easy. It comes with other shapes too so you have use it all year.

there are some sites online that you can check out to get some new recipes..food network is one. they even have a 12 days of christmas cookie thing you can sign up for and they send you a new recipe everyday. also, check out the taste of home website. they have lots of good things and you can sign up for emails from them too.

I like making a basic Oatmeal Cookie Dough (recipe X4) and then adding different combinations of goodies. That way I get 4 different kinds of cookies from one batch of dough. Goodies Ideas: Dried Cranberries and White Chocholate Chips (my favorite), Butterscotch Chips and Pecans, Raisin & Walnuts, M&Ms, etc, etc.

Google it, there are some simple cookie recipes and you can be as created as you want with the Xmas decorations.
