Effective Sunless Tanners for Fixing Tan Lines

Hey all,

Okay, here's my situation: On a cloudy day a couple of weeks ago, I was outside for a few hours and stupidly didn't have on any sun protection. As a result, I of course got sunburned on my arms and chest. I was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, so some very attractive lines formed part-way down my arms. I didn't think this would be a problem, since generally my sunburns tend to fade back to my usual pasty white. :) Surprisingly enough, this one turned to tan! It looks great when I wear shirts with a sleeve, but here's the problem -- I'm singing in a wedding tomorrow night and really wanted to wear a sleeveless dress!!! The lines would look ridiculous, though, so I'm wondering if any of you have been in a similar situation and have found a fabulous sunless tanner that could rectify it. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all your suggestions! I ended up using several applications of Physician's Formula bronzer, and that worked pretty well. You could still see the lines, but it was much more subtle!

I've usued Neutrogena Sunless Spray and that helps. I've tried some of the cheeper brands and I've found this one works the best. But, lots of great advise here.

I agree about the Arbonne product. That is what I use and sell as well.
However, you may consider the Spray On Tanners at a salon, as they would likely work faster for your needs (they won't be as healthy for you, but I'm guessing that's not your concern at this point in time!)

BTW, I also sing in weddings! Good luck!!

Get a spray on tan. Th tanning salon- Alternative Tan has a great one. It is a private booth, so you don't have to worry about getting undressed and having someone spray you down!

The best self tanner I have found is from Mary Kay cosmetics. it costs about the same as the other ones on the market but i looked tanned after one application. Be careful about making sure you get everything you want covered or you will see more lines thus defeating the purpose! Good luck to you.

Although I love the Mary Kay Subtle Sunless Tanning Lotion, price is $10.00 and I use it everyday, I know you may not have a consultant or be able to get your hands on it before a wedding, so here is my suggestion for the best over the counter Sunless Tanning Lotion. The Sunnless tanning lotion by Neutrogena is a good product that you can find just about anywhere, some of my friends use it and it doesn't turn them orange. The price is $9.99. My advice, is to go get the product, apply to the area yet today, and this evening, you may need to apply again in the morning. Just remember it takes an average of 3 hours to know the actual color. I hope this helps! Good Luck tomorrow in the wedding.

I have the perfect BRONZER for this made by BeautiControl, but I cannot get it to you fast enough!!! Sorry! They have 3 different bronzers that work great for exactly this!!! So maybe since you need it by tomorrow, see if they sell some sort of bronzers in the store! If you want me to order a BeautiControl Bronzer for you so you have it on hand for the NEXT time, let me know! I guess I would recommend bronzers over the lotions just because if it doesn't look right, you can WASH IT OFF! GOOD LUCK! T.

I think it is going to be hard to match your tan even with the best sunless tanners. Some tanning salons have the spray on tan - I'd find one of them and see if they can help.

Good luck.

As a fellow pasty...What I would do is buy a brozer( a light colored one) . It is makeup usually used for your face. As long as you are not wearing a white dress this should work fine and you can blend it so that it matchs, unlike sunless tanners. I did this for a friend's wedding a couple of years ago, use it on your arms and blend it into your neck and shoulders. I used a large fluffy brush. Good Luck. You could also try to buy an exfoliating scrubb and use it on your arms. It might take off some of the tan and reduce the appearance of the line???

What if you put sunscreen on the tan and went out in something sleeveless today? Or a tanning booth? Tough situation, most of the tanning solutions I have tried make my skin orange or they take several days to develop.

I use Jeurgan's tanning lotion. I think it's great. And it doesn't leave you looking like you put on tanning cream! It doesn't stay on your hands either. I thought it worked pretty fast too. You might want to try that!
