I am trying to find out if anyone has ever had the Endemetrial Ablation Procedure done and if so, was it successful? I know of a couple of women who have had it and they said they loved it and it was the best thing they have ever done. However, when you read reviews on the web it is all negative. (I need to stop reading them)
All I know is I need to get something done, because I have always had irregular periods, I usually would have one every 18 to 20 days and be heavy the first 3 and then almost completly done on 4th day, but now I have been bleeding for a month now.... And it has been heavier since I had a biopsy done on my uterus (which came back normal, Thank God!) Since I have been bleeding I have no energy, headaches and just feel yucky!
I am scheduled for the ablation and tubal ligation on October 11th and would like some feedback.....
I am 41 and have 1 awesome son and a very very understaning husband.......

I did have the ablation done and tubes tied and so far I feel really great. However I also had a scope done and they did find some endemetriosis, so I am assuming that might be what was causing all my problems.
The only problem I had was getting sick from the anesthesia and almost had to stay over night, but my husband stepped in and told the nurse to just give me a shot of phenagran and man did that do the trick. So needless to say I slept all day the next day! Yipee!!!!!!! Much needed rest!
To answer the quetion to why I had to have a tubal, was because I had no other source of Birthcontrol and didn't want to risk a tubal pregancy.........
Any I would like to thank each of you once again, you made it much easier for me and I hope and pray that it was successfull and may not have a period again, but if chance I do then hopefully it will be so light that I don't even notice it.....
My sister had it done and tells me to do all the time. She had a few days of discomfort but after that she was fine. She still gets PMS but no period. I am thinking seriously about it since I have the same period you have along with horrible cramps. Good luck to you! cb
STOP READING THE REVIEWS on the internet. I had ablation done 5 years ago and couldnt be happier. I had excessive bleeding after 3rd child (and 5th pregnancy) with cramping and other uncomfortable symptoms. I found out I had anemia when I went to donate blood so the doctor said this would help.
Now, I chose not to have tubal ligation because my doctor didnt think it was necessary for me. Why are you having this done? My friends who chose as birth control have reported cramping that is worse then their normal period cramping. I would ask the doctor the expected benefits and worst side effects that could be expected from both procedures.
I have had no bleeding since the ablation and NO cramping either.

i had a tubal ligation and really regret it. not for the bc reason but for my health. my sil told me she wanted to get it done but decided against it because of her friends reports of very heavy periods and other problems. i personally have an extreamly heavy period now. i never did before. i can handle that no big deal. but i also get headaches, feel sick, and am ____@____.com a lot of the time. i think it really messed me up. if i had it to do all over again i would have made my hubby get snipped! i asked my doctor about side effects of the tubal and he said there werent any. i told him about the heavy period and he said that those women must have been on bc pills and were use to a lighter period. i rarely in my life time took bc pills and it had been years before my kids arrived that i took anytype of bc. your looking into it for other reasons than bc. i am not sure if my procedure is really the exact same thing but i did get a tubal ligation and dont like the way my health is now!
I had the ablation procedure done more than 2 years ago and NEVER regretted it. I barely have spotting now and not even every month - no real periods. I had the tubal at a prior time, but both at once seem like a great idea. Recovery time was minimal and no issues. My only other option was a partial hysterectomy, so I wanted to start with the less invasive technique, and it completely worked. Piece of cake - I highly recommend. Oh, and I, too, had the procedure for heavy period bleeding. ETA - I'm 41 as well.
I have had the ablation done and I love it. Very little recovery is needed and out -patient surgery. It does sound like your hormones may be unbalanced however. I went and got my hormone levels tested and started taking the bio-identical hormones. I feel great now. I'm 43 years old and I had the ablation done about two and a half years ago. I know women who still keep having a period though after the ablation. It all depends on how your uterus is made on the inside.

I had the procedure done about 3 years ago (I am 41 yrs old) and do not regret it. It was the best thing I've ever done and have had no side effects. I too had an irregular cycles and it drove me crazy. I know longer have a period. Occasionally, I have symptoms of getting read to start but never have had a period.

I am 45 years old, and had an ablation done 19 months ago. I still have a period, but I no longer stand up and bleed to my knees. Since the ablation my periods are much shorter and much lighter. The only issue I have is that the abalation changed my ph balance and I tend to get bacterial vaginosis after a period. I discovered the best solution for that problem is to wash with Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree Oil Wash during and after my period. My sister had an ablation 4 years ago and has no periods, but she does get period symptoms (breast tenderness, moody, etc.)

I had it done 16 months ago. I am over all happy with it. I still bleed pretty much all month long but it is no where near what it was before. I know they say overtime that will stop but I've learned to work with it as I don't have the means to have a hysterectomy at this time. I would do it over again as I really don't want to have to have surgery again.
