Hey, Okay I know this sounds odd..But I want to know if anyone is having or have had during there pregnancie, excessive itching? I havent changed soaps or shampoos or laundry detergent. But I have this itching, started on my scalp now its now the back of my neck and my arms, i now have a rash..but it doesnt stop itching. I have transferred doctors so im just waiting for them to get in contact to let me know if they have accepted the refural. But this itching is worse at night and I cant get a good night sleep, we have a fan in our room b/c i over heat, due to the pregnancy. Anyone help, suggestions would be nice..im so tired of this..scratch, itchy annoyance.

I am currently high risk pregnancy with hypertension and diabetes.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well this is sorta embarrising, but this is the season Id think for it. One night my husband checked my scalp b/c it was bleeding, come to find out it wasnt what I expected. A more treatable condition, but painful too, My husband found Lice. I had it once before like 3 months ago, but been using home remedies, because I do not know which one to use with being pregnant and all.my scalp is all scabbed and swollen dry and painful. Any ideas?? Other then that Im thinking that the rash on ym neck could be from that but after the lice is gone Im gonna have my doc look further into the itching if it still occurs. (my belly is itching now!!)

my itching is gone now..but ty to all who sent help to me..it was a reaction to the lice I had coming down the shaft of my hair and biting my neck, but since I got rid of the lice Im not having that problem anymore..ty all!!

My belly itched during pregnancy because of all the stretching. I also have mild eczema and got a few rashes after giving birth. I used a little cortizone cream, which is safe for breast feeding moms and it went away.

I also had the same thing during pregnancy but only on my arms and on my chin and the sides of my face. I developed a rash on my face but that went away after birth. But I also developed a rash on my arms and I still have it, my baby is 7 weeks. I didn't do anything to treat it except avoid scratching because it makes you even more itchy. Sorry I can't help more. Good luck!!

I STILL have itching problems and my daughter's almost a year old! Try using moisturizing lotion twice a day. I just started using Oil Of Olay in shower moisturizer and Eucerin at night and it has gotten a lot better. I know how annoying it is. Not to mention frusrating! I hope it helps!

It doesn't sound odd at all. You should call the labor and delivery dept of the hospital you are delivering at and tell them. You could have the start of high blood pressure (I think, don't quote me on that). But I would get it checked ASAP. You shouldn't have to wait for a referal to get advice, especially when it comes to having a baby. You could also have the same hormonally induced rash I had after delivery. I had it on my belly, back of my thighs and my butt. JOYOUS! I hope this helps.

Hi,
I never had any kind of itching with my pregnancys but I had a friend who did. It got so bad, she went to the ER to maybe get some answers. Well, sorry for you but it didn't go away until she gave birth. I have no idea why this happened but it seems to stop after the baby is born.
I guess maybe this wasn't too much help but there are others that have the same issues you are having and its not unusuall.

Hi M., I had a lot of itching with my pregnancy. It was mostly on my belly. I did notice a rash at one point and my doc said it was just preg rash. I used a lot of oils and such to prevent strech marks, so that helped a little. I am not sure on yours though, it seems like it is a lot worse than mine. Plus you should prob talk to your doc, since you have the other issues as well. Good luck!! And congrats!! Happy Holidays!!!

I had the exact same thing. My allergies were terrible through both of my pregnancies. I took Allegra through the first and Claritin through the second. It really helped with the itching. It actually continued while I was breastfeeding as well.

I've heard that some OBGYN's tell you you can't take Claritin when you're pregnant, but mine thought it was just fine. So, check with your doc to see if you can take some allergy meds.
