My husband informed me today that his company is transferrig us to Louisville KY in June. We were brought to Portland OR just 8 months ago! Can anyone help me to get to know Louisville? Good websites to understand neighborhoods, find good preschools, pediatrician or a new church, etc? This relocation came out of left field, and I want this to be a positive experience for me and my family. Thank you.

What can I do next?

Welcome to the neighborhood and I hope living here will be a positive experience for you all!

That's a place to start.

We enjoy the zoo, science museum and the great lawn for fun and there are plenty of great eateries and other things to do in the area.

Make sure you look on the Indiana side to...the housing is much more affordable and you're only minutes to Louisville.

J.,

Louisville is a great place to live and raise children. I have lived here since I was 12 years old and I am now raising my two children here. I enjoy traveling but I do not want to relocate anywhere else. I am pleased to call Louisville my home.

Some websites you shoud check out are:

Welcome to Louisville! We recently relocated back to the area, as well, but I am originally from here.....so it's coming home for me! Its a wonderful place to live and so much to do, both with your kids and without (moms and dads need a break now and then, don't forget!). Southeast Christian Church is a great church, and you never feel like an "outsider" or "newcomer" there because of its size. Waterfront park is a wonderful place to take your family for a picnic and the kids will love the different playgrounds. I would love to show you and your family around....being new here ourselves, our family would love to meet new people!

When I relocated to Louisville, they gave me about a month to move down here and find a place to live as well. I did some research, and came across this website: www.louisvilleals.com. I worked with a lady named Jennifer. Honestly, this service saved my life!!! I told her that I was moving down here, I had no idea how to get around in Louisville, gave her a price range for rent, and what I was looking for. She was wonderful! I set up an appointment to meet with her, we went over apartments, she set up appointments for me to look at the apartments, and showed me where they were located, and step by step directions on how to get from one apartment to the next. She was a dream come true!!! If you're not wanting an apartment, I know that they deal with homes as well.

Good luck with the move!
