How to Actually Get Minecraft

we have a wii, Dsi and a pc. I refuse to get it on myphone or my kindle. can anyone tell me what it is compatable with and how to get it? and How much it costs? I'm guessing the wii and Ds aren't compatable. I googled it for the pc and stopped when I had to create a mojab or something account. I did see some ad things at made it look lilke you could play it for free but I'm always leary of that kind of stuff being legit.

Im irritated to death over my 10 asking for it nonstop. but apparently he truly is the only 10 yo on the planet that doesn't play it and kids are calling him a baby. the glowing praise I saw for the game a few weeks ago when another mamapedia person asked about it also makes me think, our whole family has been missing out. so how the heck to I get the dang thing?

What can I do next?

i think everyone is missing out if they don't watch dr who.
who cares if everyone else does it?
i don't play minecraft or have any desire to do so. i look with polite interest for a few minutes if my nephew or one of my kids wants to show me their latest creation, but it's not for me.
i don't understand feeling the need to play a game to fit in. my concern would be working with my son to withstand his nasty little friends belittling him rather than accommodating the ratpack.

You don't have the only 10 year old without Minecraft. My 13, 10 and 4 year old don't have it even though they do nothing but beg for it. ;)
I have heard nothing but great things about it. We want to get it for them but they are not showing very good time management at this time and would stop doing anything else but play on it. Not worth the fight in our house. They are trying to earn it with appropriate behaviour. It's been slow going LOL

You need to create a mojang account and then you can purchase it for the PC and download it to your computer. The mojang account is legit. It's like creating an iTunes account or PS3 account. Just create your account, pay, download, install and enjoy. It really is a great game and totally worth it. We have it installed on an iPad and PlayStation.

ETA: and you're right, it's not for Wii or DS...just iPad/iPhone, Mac/PC, X-Box and PS.

Go to this link for info.

The "Demo" for Minecraft is free. Because, it is just a, demo.
But it is not the FULL game.
"Minecraft Classic" is also free. But not a full version etc.
Or there are "pocket" versions.
Or apps.

Here is another link:

Or just go and buy a Minecraft game, from a game store, like GameStop... which is for... a PC computer. Since that is what you have.
Or simply look on Amazon and look at it and its reviews.

DSi is too small, its not to be played on a DS. Wrong platform.

Or Google search "free Minecraft." or "Is Minecraft Free?"
or, "What platforms can Minecraft be played on?"

We have it.
We play it on an iPhone, iPad, MAC computer, and Xbox.

My boys, 8 and 10, love mine craft. They have it on their iPhone (an old one we let them have after my husband upgraded), on their kindles, and for their Xbox. I am sure you could also get it for the Wii. For the pads and tablets it is just an easy app download, I think it cost about $7. For the Xbox (and I would assume the Wii as well) I had to buy it at the store (I got theirs at Walmart) and it was around $15. They prefer the one on their xbox because they can both play at the same time, while with their tablets they must meet online to join in a single world.

I need to change this, I have just been informed by my kids that mine craft is only for Xbox, not for the Wii.

We have it on both our PC and the Xbox. I prefer the PC versions, it's easier to control and my husband and I can play together.

It's fun and addictive.

Signing up is easy and the price isn't too bad.

I hope this helps.

We have it for free on every cell phone. We also downloaded it on the kids tablets. Hubby got the pay version and I think it was only a couple of dollars.

There's no reason to not have it on your phone. It's just an app. And it's free. He'll play the free version and be very happy and quiet on any trip.

hi Lilly, my DS LOVES MINECRAFT (and i love anything that pulls him out of pokemon world).

anyway, he plays it on our PC in a shared room and often will call a friend and parallel play on the same server. not sure how to sign up, that's my DH's domain but we ask our DS to contribute to the expense rather than just paying outright for it.

also, i concur with previous posts that if left to his own he would be logged on for too long. on the weekends, he gets an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon and on school nights he gets an hour after homework has been completed, if there's time for a full hour. have fun!!! S.

Ha ha - they all say that. "Mom, I'm the ONLY one" If you press, you'll find he's not ;-) Mine do, but they're limited. Otherwise, because it's so addictive, they'd spend all DAY on it! Ugh. I don't see anything wrong with it - they build things - and it's pretty creative, and fun. BUT - they do join other servers and chat with other kids (adults too!), so be sure to pay attention to who they're chatting with. There will be some language in some of those chats. Some servers kick you if you use fowl language or harass other players, but some don't. So - you have to educate them on chat etiquette and internet safety. Doesn't really answer your original question - but I see you got those answers already ;-)
