I am a working (full time) mother of 1 - she is 2 1/2 and is currently at a home day care provider- who is excellent! I know its about time to start looking - my question is, what is the ideal age to send them to preschool and if anyone has any suggestions or resources for the area. She needs a full time day care 8-5 as well.

What can I do next?

Hi C.. My name is M.. My daughter stayed with a family friend during the day until she was about 2-1/2. We loved our setup and felt it was the best situaion to give her individual attention. Around 2-1/2 she seamed pretty bored with the same old thing and little interaction with other children her age. We first enrolled her at Discovery Land at Wadsworth and 3rd. I wasn't thrilled when I would pick her up and the children were all lined up in front of the TV! About 5 months ago we switched to The Sunshine house near Wadsworth and Hampeden and I can not say enough good things about them! They are very loving and attentive. My daughter LOVES it there! They really are like family and take an interest in the kids and the parents. The number is ###-###-####. Laurel is the director and she is WONDERFUL. I hope this helps in your search.

I also live in the wheat ridge area and am looking for a pre-school full time for my daughter. She is currently in a montessori in Denver and will have to transition out when she turns three in August. The problem I am having is most preschools for 3 year olds are only for 3 to 4 hours and I am looking for a part-time or full time job. I called a few jeffco elementary schools that have ECE but again they only do it for 3-4 hours. What do working parents do with their children after those 3-4 hours? or hopefully someone will suggest one we both can call on.
Feel your pain.....

We live in Wheat Ridge and our son will be 3 in March. He's currently in a home day care and we are ready to starting thinking about preschool as well. We are probably going to be buying a new home sometime this year, though, and until we know what area of the city we'll be living in, we'll probably hold off on the preschool decision. But in our area, of researched some of the preschools offered in the Jeffco elementary schools. And our daycare providers son attended the licensed preschool at the WR rec center and thought it was a good program. Good luck in your search. It's a big step!

Hate to discourage you, but mamasource doesn't seem to have the membership it once did, I sent out a similar response recently and didn't get any replys. I live in Lakewood, my son is two. I looked at several different preschool/daycare centers and finally decided on Sunshine House. The staff is warm and friendly, professional and experienced. He will be starting in a week, so I can't tell you a lot more than that. Just do some research, and some tours and trust your motherly intuition. Thats what I did! Good luck in your search.
