my daughter turns 5 in April. She's been invited to several parties this year and now she's asking about her birthday party. I want something not too expensive, but something fun. I am open to having a small party here at my house, but thought I would see if any of you have suggestions for a place for a 5 year old girl's party. I am in the northwest side of Chicago.
THANKS!

What can I do next?

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS! I think I am going to give her a small party here with some "Classic" games and just good ol fun playing time with her friends.
THANKS!

Hi A.

I also have the same problem, my daughter also turns 5 in april, and all her classmates are having birthday parties so she wants to have one too. I am also at my wits end thinking of a place, but I can share with you some that her friends have used. We have had party at "Michaels" the store, there they had crafts party. We have had at bowling centers, swim partys at local community center, Candy making at "Goergia nut comapany". We have been to party whr there were magicians incvited at home to entertain kids, craft partys at home etc.
Good luck to you
J.

Hi A.,

A friend of mine just had a "cheerleading" party for her 5 year old. She rented a room at the park district, and had the best time. Also, I know someone who had a party at her house and played all the classic games. Musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey, freeze dance, etc. She served cake and had the best time. Also, a scavenger hunt is also a fun idea if it is nice out. Sorry, my ideas are rambling!!

Have fun,

Jolie

Good luck.

Hi A.,

My daughter is almost nine, so she's had and been to several types of parties. You've received some good suggestions. Additionally:

Skokie Park District at Devonshire, dance party or theater party (ex. Little Mermaid) with Jenny Sawtelle.

Hired a clown out of Chicago Parent magazine ads. He came to the house and put on a clown; maybe a little young for her, but puppet show is still fun.

Paint-a-pot parties at all kinds of private shops; I only know Evanston locations.

Skokie Emily Oaks Nature Center has a beautiful room with a view and nature birthday programs.

Craft party at home, Build a Bear workshop (pricey), hire a singer (even someone who conducts classes you've been to, all gymnastic parties have been fun ...

Good luck!

Barbara

Definitely check out Fantasy Kingdom: http://www.fantasykingdom.org/.

Their address is:
1422 N. Kingsbury St.
Chicago, IL 60622

They're in the Weed Street Neighborhood, just around the corner from Bubbles Academy, which incidentally also has super cool birthday packages. You can check out Bubble's website here: www.bubblesacademy.com

They say up to age six on the Fantasy Kingdom website, but I know that the owner has had parties for girls all the way up to age 12. It's a blast for all children, but especially little girls.

We just had my son's 5th birthday at Skyline Gymnastics on Western Ave, north of Montrose. It was great! You get the facility for 2 hours; Kids get to run around for about 1.5 hours. Kim and Coach Katie are very helpful, and everyone has lots of fun!
