New to Boise Area. Need Dr's

I've been waiting for someone to ask this question, because I just had my 3rd baby and had the BEST experience! I really thought I had good doctors with my first two, but Dr. Armstrong and OB/Gyn Associates were really great! I can't recommend him or St. Luke's Meridian highly enough!

Dr. Armstrong listens patiently to all these women complaining about things all day, but he always listens to one more. The nurses at St. Luke's spoke very highly of him, without my asking. They just have a lot of respect for him.

I have had 3 c-sections now, and I had problems with my first two. With my first, 11 days afterward I could hardly stand up straight or walk very far. I remember it still hurting a little to get out of bed 3 months later. With my second, I had strange reactions to the medications, and had a hard time recovering from the surgery. I healed a little faster that time, and thought I was doing great when a month afterward, I felt human again.

I can't put my finger on what made this time so much better, but I left the hospital early and 2 weeks later, I have no pain. Before, I also had nearly 6 weeks of lochia, but that stopped after 10 days this time. I had a phenomenal nurse who, when given the same information that I gave my previous doctors, knew right away that I shouldn't be given certain drugs (including the ones I'd reacted to last time).

St. Luke's Meridian is surprisingly small. I think there were only 5 babies on the floor while I was there. The nurses were so personal! I got so much great care and attention! You order your meals like room service, too :) And I think I only changed one diaper while I was there because the nurses were always doing things for me.

The OB/Gyn Associates office is nice, and convenient. They have on-site labs and ultrasound, and are right by the hospital. They also have a few other locations to help accommodate your schedule.

I had a L&D nurse recommend Dr. Armstrong to me via MommaSource, and I wish I knew who she is so I could send her a giant box of chocolates or something. My experience was absolutely phenomenal!

P.S. I overheard a conversation at the front desk while I was checking in at OB/Gyn Associates one day. A woman was speaking for her very green-at-the-gills sister, saying that her doctor at another clinic refused to give her any anti-nausea medication for morning sickness, so she wanted to switch to Dr. Armstrong, who she knew wouldn't let her just suffer like this. Of course, I have no idea if Dr. Armstrong helped her, but I thought I'd mention it since you said your morning sickness is so horrible.

Our family always uses St. Al's. We have been with Boise Peds forever and I'm sure they could recommend a good OB/GYN from the clinic on the other side of the campus. We used them for our 4th child and had the best care at St. Al's hospital. I've had 4 kids and I wish they had all been born there. Our last kid, I made the mistake of not wanting to drive in for appointments and chose someone local to our new area and was sadly disappointed so now even though the hospital is 6 blocks from my house we drive into St. Al's for everything even ER.

I also liked the Women's Clinic in downtown Boise. I think they only deliver at St Luke's. Dr Hodges (husband of Necole) I heard was GREAT from lots of women. He listens and helps. I also heard Dr. Loveland or Love-something in Boise is awesome. He helped my friend through a late-term miscarriage and was sooo compasionate and kind. I like all the drs at the Women's Clinic. I had Dr. Kerry Lowder and he does his own ultrasounds so you don't have to go to a separate technician. I thought he was really funny and nice, so that helped a lot with my worries and stress level. I also had Dr Suzanne Anstine in downtown Boise. She was really sweet and talks to you, really listens for a long time each appt. The only thing with her is because she takes so much time with her patients, you wait a long time in the waiting room to see her, and I personally didn't have the time to see her anymore, but she is a great listener. Plus I felt like she asked me for my opinion too much, rather than giving stronger recommendations. So just my personality differences - nothing against her.

My doc is Debbie Grissom at the Boise OB/GYN Center for Women at St Luke's downtown. She's awesome. There are several other doctors in the office and as part of the prgenancy process patients meet with all doctors in the office. They are all nice and informed and, if it's as important to you as it is to me, they have a wonderful nursing staff as well. Also, the admin staff is much better than what I have come to expect as normal (which is generally rude and not at all helpful) for a doctor's office.

I really like Dr. Necole Javernick-Hodges at the Women's clinic. She has been my doctor through 2 1/3 pregnancies. The first pregnancy she came and took over for another doctor who was retiring. She has had 4 kids (I think) and does listen to concerns. She has an office at both the Meridian and Boise St. Luke's hospitals, but I believe she still only delivers at the Boise hospital.

My recommendation also comes from the Women's clinic, and that is Dr. Archibald. LOVE him!

I will also give you some no's - Dr. King at Women's Health Associates. And possibly Dr. Chasen at Women's Clinic (she was very uninvolved, and didn't seem to address any of my concerns, but she was due with her own at that time, and could have been distracted. I wouldn't put her in the same no category as King.)
