We aren't big candy eaters, so what am I going to do with all the candy my kids collected? They had a BLAST on Halloween, and loved trick-or-treating, but now what? Sure, they've eaten some of it, and I pulled out the ones that might be fun additions to our gingerbread houses next month, but what do I do with the rest? Donate it? To whom? Does the food bank want that sugary stuff? Thanks for your help!

My friend works at an oncology office and she takes their extra candy there because many of the cancer patients get a bad taste in their mouth when getting their chemo treatments. She says it also helps to lift their spirits a little too.
I think the best idea I've seen is sending it to our Soldiers. There are many organizations in all over the u.s. taking donated Halloween candy and sending the treats overseas.
Check out www.halloweenbuyback.com and see if you can find a dentist near you that it taking it. Many only accepted it last week though, so it might be too late. We donated 8 lbs of candy and my son got $8 for it. They gave him all $2 bills so he was pretty excited.
Our orthodontist took our candy and paid us for it!! YAHOO!! :) and is sending it off to our soldiers in Afghanistan....we helped box it up!! last year we had 30 boxes (APO flat rate boxes) and this year we have 35!!!
donate it to you local dentist I just head this on the news a few days ago if you bake any depending on what it is you can put it in cakes cup cakes
i bring mine to work and put it in our break room for everyone to enjoy!
The other day I saw a really cool recipe on The Chew show. It showed how to use leftover halloween candy to make a cool dessert. I bet you could find it on their website.
Otherwise, go and bless some women's shelters or similar so the kids can have candy. Some don't get to go trick-or-treating because of their family circumstance.
I also just donated our unwanted candy to the troops. I found a great website that lists all the dentists in your area that participate.

We do this every year and they actually pay the kids $1/pound. They also get to make a card for a soldier to thank them for their service.
Many elementary schools donate this candy to the troops who serve our country.

Well...on a strictly selfish note here:^) you can use it in holiday cookie recipes. I smash up jolly ranchers and put them on sugar cookies for a "stained glass" effect. Taffy can also be rolled into strips and put on cookies; it liquefies into splashes of color after it bakes. You can bake Tootsie rolls into the center of Pillsbury crescents for a "chocolate croissant". There's supposed to be a recipe on the Internet for sweet tart smoothies as well. I am sure that you can bake candy bars into brownies or find a cheesecake recipe...the possibilities are endless. Endless and cloying...
My son's school also donates it to the troops. I'll get info and message it to you. Also, my kid's dentist buys it back as well.
I like 3wonderful Kids idea. Some dentists will also pay kids for their candy. Either idea would be worth checking into.
just toss it. By the time any donated stuff was passed on to some "Lucky" family, it might be hard as a rock.
Just throw the rest out. It won't do anyone any good.
