Safe Cleaning Supplies for Kids

My 3 year old loves to help clean up around the house. We have her drying non-breakables when we do dishes at night and she swiffers the floors, but she wants to do more and I want to encourage it, but I don't want her around dangerous cleaning supplies. At the same time, if she is going to wipe down tables with a cloth, it would be nice to put some cleaner down. Are there any safe cleaners for kids?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We just moved and I had to give away a lot of my staples, so it looks like I need to get some vinegar and lemon juice. I only let her use the dry swiffer, which is great because our dog sheds a lot and she really does help pick a lot of the hair up. Thanks for the recommendations.

I give them a spray bottle with vinegar.
Another useful chore my girls like is scrubbing tile grout. We have an open floor plan, so the family room, kitchen and eating area becomes one giant playroom when we all get on the floor with a scrub brush and dish soap mixed with baking soda..

We don't use any noxious cleaners and do just fine. I use regular dish soaps for most things, even mopping the floor. Works like a charm.

Vinegar

So safe, it's even recommended to give as a cold remedy.

I second the vinegar - that stuff is stinky, but it's great for cleaning. And the stinky doesn't last.

You can use vinegar with water or some lemon juice with water, lemon juice works just as well and smells better. Baking soda also cleans well and is non-toxic.

I would not let your child use the swiffer with the spray, if you read the label it does have warnings for small children and animals. The solution causes cancer.
