Seeking New Pediatrician in Lake County

I would like to change pediatricians and would welcome any recommendations. I like our current pediatrician, but she dismisses all sorts of alternative treatment/homeopathic remedies. Believe me, I am not some crackpot who refuses medical treatment or wants to treat my kids' ailments with eye of newt and a dance in the moonlight, but I do feel there is some validity in, for example, chiropractic care for children. Our pediatrician tends to throw antibiotics at the kids at the least provocation, so I'd be happier with a doctor who is more open to other ideas. Libertyville area or surrounding towns would be best. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Our kids' pediatrician is Rebecca Bergman at Premier Pediatrics. Their website is www.premierpeds.com . I really like her because she is very open minded. I'm not crazy about the male docs in the practice but I think she is great! She's very willing to listen and explore options with you. The practice is in Lincolnshire and I'm sure she wouldn't mind talking with you about her practice philosophy. Give her office a call. The number is ###-###-####.

I second Dr. Elvove. You can check out his website at www.elvovemd.com. He's located at 1029 West Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL 60048 ###-###-####

In addition to being a traditional pediatrician, he's very knowledgeable about healthy lifestyle choices and some of the alternative choices people make about immunizations, etc. He was my ob/gyn and continues to care for my 4-year old son. The staff is very accessible and has been very helpful to us even over the phone. We live in Wheeling, but it's worth the drive.

Mundelein Pediatrics is full of wonderful doctors that have never done me wrong. They are in Grayslake...the number is ###-###-####. My favorite is Dr. Malloy but like I said they are all good.

Good Luck!

Hi L.,

I go to Pediatric Partners in Vernon Hills & Highland Park - www.pediatricpartnerssc.com. I see Dr Soma Mukherjee, but Dr Laurie Hochberg is also good. My friend from high school is the nurse manager in Highland Park. I like them. They're all very nice.

I'm a believer in alternative medicine too. My son had plagio & torticollis at 2-3 months & has grown out of it. The doc wanted me to go to a specialist. My chiropractor showed me stretches for his neck & how to massage his scalp. I was consistent with it & it worked. He didn't need the specialist.

You've got to go with what feels right to you. Good luck!

I've heard good things about Dr. Elvove who's in Libertyville I believe. He doesn't mesh with everyone personality-wise, but I think he has a more open mind about alternative treatments than many doctors in the area. It's a family practice so all members of the family can go there.
