Teething Out of Order

No I would not be concerned, my daughter when she got her first teeth she got the top 2 side teeth and no middles for awhile but thankfully they finally came in!Her younger brother who is 22 months also got his teeth the exact same way.Why this happens I don't know but just thought I would let you know not to worry the rest should come in fine. J.

My daughters top teeth came in before the bottom ones. Also she got about three teeth then popped a whole bunch at once right around a year. My other two children came in the "normal" order.

Good Morning K. , I had simular teething situation with my daughter whom is now 9 and the 2nd child. Her teeth began to brake through when she was 4 months not in order so to speak and her teeth ended up growing in perfect. The problem with that was there was little space for the new teeth to come in once she started to lose teeth. Now she needs braces which is comon in this day and age. So don't worry he wants to be different. :>)

No reason to be concerned. In my experience teeth come in random spots and there is no real rhyme or reason.

My daughter got her top "fang" teeth first and her dentist ( my uncle so I trust him)said that is perfectly normal so no, you have no reason to be concerned!

My third son didn't get any teeth until he was about 15-16 months old and his first one was a back molar. We didn't even know it was there until one day when he was laughing and had his mouth open really wide. I wouldn't be to concerned about which order they come in as long as they're coming in. I hope this helps.

My kids got their teeth out of order too. There's nothing wrong with it. Just like some kids teeth late, some don't get them in the "typical order".

My oldest did have an extra tooth, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

My youngest only has 6, but he got his bottom middle two like he should have, but the top 4 middle ones came like a jigsaw puzzle...guess I'll just have to wait until he has them all to see if he's got extra ones or not.

There is no reason for concern. All three of my kids' teeth came in differently. It probably won't be long before the others come in.

All of my kids got their teeth late. My daughter got her first one at 15 months! And my son got his eye teeth way before the front teeth so he had "fangs" and people would stop us in the store and ask what happened thinking he got htem knocked out somehow!

One of my children got her "fangs" first. It was funny to look at, but it isn't a problem.
My brother did that, too.
I wouldn't worry at all.

One of my girls got all 4 of her canines before her front teeth came in. She had the cutest baby vampire smile for her first Halloween! All of her teeth eventually came in with no unusual problems. Don't worry!

I'm a dental hygienist, and I can tell you that tooth eruption patterns are not uniform. Typically you'll see the lower 2 front teeth erupt first, but not always. After the lower 2 front teeth, you normally see the upper 2 front teeth. Not so with my son (who is now 4 1/2). He got his top 2 lateral incisors first. No cause for concern yet. If he's still missing these teeth at age 1, maybe. Highly unlikely, though.

My son who is 18 now, waited until he was almost a year before he got any teeth and then he got all 4 eye teeth and we called him Dracula for awhile. He eventually got them all in and everything was fine. He never even needed braces. My daughter, now 16, started teething at about 6 mos and all hers came in the usual order but later she ended up with braces. I don't think when they get them or which order they get them makes any difference. It's just part of what makes each child's unique history. And remember, normal is just a setting on your dryer. All three of my boys teethed out of order. They also got their teeth late and are losing their teeth late. Our pediatrician said that every child is different and that those charts that you get in books are just an estimate. I wouldn't be concerned.

Hi K., Im a dental assitant and really there is no real "order" for how teeth come in. What they say and what you read are guidelines by what age the teeth "can" appear and what may or may not come first. I thought at first also there was an order to but there isnt all kids get teeth at different ages as well as whatever teeth come in first, second, third and so on.... My son who is now 17 months today got his first tooth at 11 months and it was his mandibular (bottom) left central incisor then his right central came next then his maxillary (upper) molars were next and still working on those they take along time to come all the way in.
He now has 8 teeth that I know of, its so hard to get in his mouth these days. So like I said there is no real order for kids to get teeth in and all kids get teeth in different orders. Hope this helps! L.

My first two daughter cut 4 teeth at a time so they had all of them before 1st birthday. They were 4 months when they started. My last two cut the first 8. then got the molars and when they turned 2 got the "eye" teeth. I have a brother that my mother told me got his "eye" teeth first so he looked like a little vampire until the other came in. They come in what ever order they feel like. Don't worry unless it looks like there is no room.

My daughter got her teeth out of order too and really late like 10mos.She got her eye tooth before she got her front teeth it looked really weird.

Now my duaghter is 6.5 and is the last and only one in her first grade class to lose a tooth. I'm waiting to see if she starts to lose them out of order too!

Usually teeth are a genetic thing they take after mom or dad and have this type of teeth or that type and so I had weird teeth too so I'm saying she just takes after me. I have tried my best to keep track of what teeth and when in her baby book so she can have record when she has kids.

My son got his front teeth last...once all of his teeth came in I got compliments all the time because they were so straight and white...I dont think you have anything to worry about all babies are different!

My son did not get is teeth in the right order either. They are healthy and cavity free at 8 yrs old. so I wouldn't worry every child is different. They always need to give you something to worry about:) Have A Great Day T.

My so also did somewhat the samething. He got three bot. teeth before 12 months he is now 14 months and just getting his top teeth. Four top teeth are coming in at once. Hope this helps that teething is not normal.

I don't think that is anything to worry about! I have seen that on my friends kids, & all the rest of their teeth/dental issues were fine.
