Newborn Not Gaining Weight

I'm a new mom to a beautiful 4wk old BB. He was 6lbs 6oz at birth, and by 1wk, he was down to 5lbs 7oz. Now, 3wks later, he's only 5lbs 11oz. We are BF and he's getting enought milk, eating for an hour every 1-3 hours. He produces 6-8 wet diapers and 4-6 poopy diapers a day. He has met and surpassed his milestones, and he's getting taller. I gained 25lbs during the pregnancy, and by 3wks PP, I have lost almost 20lbs. I eat about 2500-3500 calories a day. I have two older children (9 & 8) who were also BF and small, but not this small. ...

When Should We Start Training Our 18 Month Old Son?

My son is 18 months and takes great pride in peeing and pooping, happily declaring when he has accomplished both (although he does not always inform us). When should we start to introduce a potty chair to him? Is it too early to bring one in now and let him get familiar with it? [Thank you all for the wonderful responses. I am actually now looking forward to introducing the potty. I will try the Baby Bjorn potty that several of you mentioned. Will let you know how it all turns out. Seems that the general consensus is to be casual...

DayCare Versus Babysitter for 2 1/2 Yr Old

I was a SAHM that has now returned to work. I am not sure if I'd want to go with a babysitter or with a Day Care. I did view a couple Day care Centers in town but just seems that my son would not get the attention he's used to or would need with 5-6 other kids running around. I'm only needing someone 3 days a week and not even 8 hour shifts so don't want to pay full time prices. I am married but this would be me doing most of the cost if not all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm very nervous about this whole situation and...

Is Baby Bjorn Bad??

I just read in someone else's post that she was looking for a new carrier because she heard the Baby Bjorn was bad for the baby's spine. I carry my 4 1/2-month old daughter in a Baby Bjorn several times a week on our morning walk, so hearing it might be bad worried me. Does anyone have more information about this? Thanks!!

Babywearing Advice? Looking for Comfortable Carrier...

I am carrying my 3-month old daughter in a Baby Bjorn right now, but it's starting to get painful for me. Any advice on comfortable baby carriers to wear? I need something I can wear most of the day for at least the next 6 months. I'm thinking about getting a Mei Tai. Does anyone have experience with this or other carriers? Thanks!

Tummy Time Fun

Does anyone have any suggestion to make tummy time more fun for my 3-1/2-month-old. At first he enjoyed it a little & he was rolling over. Now, he'll only play on his tummy for a few minutes before he starts whining and crying. The back of his head is getting slightly flat from sleeping on his back, playing on his back, rocking in his swing, and hanging out in his rocker. I want to prevent the flat head syndrome by giving him more tummy time, but he just isn't enjoying it. I have even bought a little tummy pillow for him to prop himself...
