Baby Teeth Out of Sequence

Little one is 13 month and popped a lower first molar before any of the lower canines came in. Apart from being extra drooled he seems ok. I'm inclined to wait for the next ped visit in march rather than hurry to see a doctor or ped dentist.

Is there reason for me to have this seen sooner?

Thanks in advance
LSHA

My 9 most old granddaughter just popped out her first tooth. It's in the middle front. There is not a right order for when each tooth will appear where. The order in which to cut teeth is.just the order in which the average baby does. Nothing to be concerned about.

According to a baby book written by the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) spokesperson, lower molar coming out before the canines is more normal than canines coming out first. So no need to even ask about it. Both my kids' first molars came in before their canines.

No, teeth come in when they come in. He's old enough to go to the pediatric dentist just for a check though. We started the little ones when they were toddlers too. They loved going to see Dr. Lee in OKC. He would entertain them with puppets and stuff while they were having the exam and cleaning.

He might find something is going on but I can't imagine anything being wrong.

I thought of this a little bit ago. It's fun how the teeth fall out in the order they came in. You might take a note to see what happens when he gets to be 4 and his teeth start falling out.

Our girl's first tooth came in at 3 months and that tooth was her first loose tooth and first to come out. They fell out in the exact order them came in and on almost the same timeline. Like that one came out and in a few months her next tooth came out that had come in second, in order of growth and in the same timeline.

Hi FB

Teeth order can overlap so that's fine. My kids' teeth didn't always come in the order we expected. Here's a good chart that shows the overlapping times they can come in: (it's a safe site it's oracle's).

One of my kids never got one of their baby teeth. Even that was ok - we just waited to see if it would come in with the adult teeth. It did.

Personally, I'd just wait till your next dental appointment.

Teeth come in when the come in. No specific order. Wouldn't lose sleep over this. My kids got their first tooth at 5 1/2-6 months and not in any order. If he's 13 months he's getting his 12 month molars.

I actually think that is normal. Kids get the front four on the top and four on the bottom. Then, they get a set of molars. Then the teeth in between fill in. My daughter got molars a little after her first birthday, but was more like 18-21 months before the canines came in.

It is what I call a human evolution. We use our molars more than we do the canines and the way that teeth come in now is how your son's is. My older child had them come in the way many of ours did. My second child had her teeth come in like your second son. These two kids are almost four years different in age. So don't get upset.

Have a great day.
